Chennai Super Kings Vs Rajasthan Royals

Jaipur, May 4:
Two dubious decisions by umpire Asad Rauf in the very first over of the Chennai Super Kings first innings took the interest out of the match completely. All the fans of Chennai Super Kings glued to T.V. had either switched off the T.V. or have switched the channel. The fans of Chennai Super Kings at the stadium were furious at the umpire but could do nothing. Does the bowler's name and the umpire's name gives you some clue. The fans of Chennai Super Kings and even Jaipur teams at the stadium had nothing to cheer about sitting there. The game turned out to be a formal one. No thrills nothing. The culprit is umpire Asad Rauf. Ban him for future matches. People like to watch only fair contests and a umpire cannot decide matches. But the two wrong decision given by the umpires took the fighting spirit out of the Chennai Super Kings players and they played the match for formality sake. The bowler who was lucky to get the decisions in his favour was left-arm seamer Sohail Tanvir who went on to take further 4 wickets and thus he created a World record taking six wickets for 14 runs. .
Tanvir, is 23-year old from Rawalpindi, Pakistan who made his international debut only last year. His unique bowling action gave trouble to the batsmen. He was gifted two wickets in his very first over, trapping openers Parthiv Patel and Stephen Fleming leg before, though the replay on both occasions clearly showed that the ball was flying over the wicket and sideways and not hitting the wicket.
In his next over he had Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan caught in the slips by skipper Shane Warne and the Chennai Super Kings were at 11 for three.
Thereafter, the Super Kings lost wickets at regular intervals, the much dependable Subramaniam Badrinath offered a simple catch to his bowler watson and then Dhoni could not read Warne's bowling who snicked the ball to Smith in the slips.
It was 45 for five in the eighth over a miserable score and Albie Morkel who was at the crease smashed a few boundaries. Suresh Raina (27) on the other end departed and later so did Joginder Sharma (0).
Morkel, was bowled by Tanvir in his second spell. Tanvir took two more wickets to finish with figures of 4-0-14-6, a record for T20 cricket.
The Super Kings, who had initially won their four matches and later losing to Delhi Daredevils at home last week, had to settle for a meager total of 109 runs all-out in 19 overs.
The target being easy enough the Rajasthan royals got it by the 15th over.
Chennai Super Kings in their second innings bowled wides and no-balls adding their extras to 21. With a small total to defend, and wickets not falling Dhoni introduced Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan who in his very first over was successful to take a wicket. If Ntini had taken a catch which was not that difficult then he would have had two in his kitty. Muthiah Muralidharan who was bought lately curtailed the runs and was able to take one wicket. He troubled the batsmen as he always does.
The Royals began the chase with openers Swapnil Asnodkar and Smith. They were at ease and were looking for singles. Asnodkar lived dangerously and Smith was dropped in Makhaya Ntini's second over. Considering the small total it could not have been a big loss to Chennai Super Kings. But as always in cricket a wicket's here and there turns around the result of matches.
The pair thus were able to put on 78 runs in 10 overs before Asnodkar was out for 32 to left-arm spinner Vidyut. Yusuf Pathan the dare devil he is as usual went for shots, he smashed a six, and then he tried to gain applause in Muttiah Muralitharan bowling went for a big hit and gave a simple catch to Raina who was nearby to the wicket.
Thereafter the Royals needed only 18 more runs. Watson the next batsman smashed a couple of sixes and the match ended in the 15th over. Smith remained unbeaten on 35 having been troubled by Murali most of the times.

Chennai Vs Rajasthan
There is a sea-change difference in the captaincy between Dhoni and Warne. Dhoni negatively approaches the game, he is selfish, he very well knows that he is out-of-form but comes early and goes early to the pavilion. Dhoni never appreciates, encourages and guides his team.
On the other hand Warne is active, shining and brimming with full of positiveness. He reposes faith in his teams ability to deliver. He always guides them brings an electrifying effect on his team and deliver success.
In today's match it is not Dhoni but the other players in the team should vie for a win.
It would be blessing if in today's match Dhoni does not play and the captaincy is handed over to Subramaniam Badrinath the local lad.
Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan should open the innings. Parthiv patel should come one down.
The bowling should be opened with Nitini and Gony and then Albie Morkel should bowl the fifth and seventh over. Murali should bowl the sixth. eighth, fifteenth and seventeenth over. Balaji the ninth, eleventh, eighteenth and twentieth over. The other overs should be divided by Nitini and Gony.
If this sequence is followed then there is a definite win for Chennai.
Post Match Review
There are many questions that has cropped up in this IPL twenty20 cricket tournament before and after the match between Dhoni's North Indian team and Rajasthan Royals..
1. Why is the media blocking out completely the cheer leaders?
2. Why are the cameramen are not entertaining lot, they never show the crowds and the celebrities who have been called for.
3. Is Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan Alive or Dead?
4. If alive what has happened to him, why the media has completely blacked out him?
5. Why the Chennai local lads are not being given enough opportunities to play in IPL cricket tournament.
6. Except Balaji no other local player is being given enough opportunities in Chennai camp.
7. Why Badrinath who has a good technique in batting is coming after Dhoni who is out of form? This was one of the main cause for defeat of Dhoni's North Indian team against Rajasthan Royals.
8. Is Dhoni worth that he is now after his failures after failure both from his bat, wicket keeping and his captaincy?
9. Whether Dhoni really has hurt his finger, if so when it is going to be healed, after the iplt20 cricket tournament? In order to avoid questions he has made this an excuse to bring in the slow run-getter Parthiv Patel into the team at the cost of Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan? Parthiv Patel's poor batting display where he scored just 54 runs in 40 balls was the main cause for the defeat of Dhoni's North Indian team against Rajasthan Royals. This being a good batting wicket he miserably took his team towards the door of defeat by playing a tired innings without playing big shots.
10. What misunderstanding has creeped between Dhoni and Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan?
11. Why in the previous match against Bangalore's Team he was sent low down the batting order when he is more good and is an in-form player compared to Dhoni. This was the main cause for Dhoni's North Indian team's defeat against Bangalore Team.
12. Should Dhoni still be allowed to continue in Chennai Super Kings to play when he is more interested in playing his North Indian players rather then the local Chennai Players? That he is an injured player and is out-of-form, why not drop him from the team?
13. Why are the commentators not bold enough and are such boring? They never speak about the negative approach of Dhoni at all. Not one word has been spoken about the absence of Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan.
The complete Innings with score card..
Openers Smith and Asnodkar scored runs freely on a good batting wicket and put on 127 runs for the first wicket.
No bowler was able to contain the above two batsmen..
The came Akmal and made a fine 53 runs of only 28 balls.
It was only in the later part of the innings runs were controlled.
Albie Morkel was the pick of the lot with 4 for 35.
Chennai Super Kings felt the absence of Vidyut Sivaramakrishnan very badly but Dhoni did not.
Parthiv patel failed in a good batting wicket to take the score to the winning post. He was so tired that he could not sky the balls to sixes or fours. The best option for him was to go all out and get out. But he occupied the greese and consumed valuable balls. Thus pressure started building up and the later batsmen had no other go but to go after the bowling skying all the deliveries.
Again Dhoni instead of taking single played dot balls and did not give the opportunity for Morkel to hit more runs.
A last they suffered a 10-run defeat against Rajasthan Royals in iplt20 cricket tournament.
One win from here against Deccan Chargers will see them through to the semi-finals, but luck as started shining with Delhi Daredevils and they may pimp Chennai. In other words Chennai in the present going could loose their match against Deccan Chargers though today Deccan Chargers were comprehensively beaten by Royal Challengers Bangalore.
After Royals, batting first on a good batting pitch 211 for five in their 20 overs, the Super Kings came close to snatching a dramatic win thanks to Suresh Raina 45 runs in 24 balls and Albie Morkel 71 runs in 40 balls.
In the end, the target proved just beyond the reach of the Super Kings for the sole reason much of the ball was consumed by Parthiv Patel initially for his 54 runs in 40 balls.

2nd June 2008 - Final
Kapugedera who is out-of-form and needed some match practise pleaded Dhoni to give him a chance and so Dhoni kept the in-form Badrinath out and brought in Kapugedera in the 17th over (16.2)
What an innings Kapugedera and Dhoni played. Kapugedera played a superb knock of 8 runs in 12 balls and Badrinath who should have hit twenty runs in his two balls he faced made ony 6 runs and that is why Chennai was short by 20 runs and they had a thrilling match to loose at hand.
Good captaincy helping the needy and using matches to give practise to out-of-form players. What a intelligent captain indeed Dhoni is. Rightly praised by all.
The match was always in the pocket of Chennai team until Raina departed in the 16.2 overs when the score was 128 runs.
There was Badrinath and Goni the in-form and hard-hitter batsmen and till last they had no chance to play at all, which is the cause of defeat of Chennai team.
The pitch did not assist batsmen and hence the score of 163 was a good score but 180 seemed possible when Raina left.
What a Captain yaar!
Dhoni's superb captaincy.
Kapugedera from the begining in his previous matches had been such a sheer waste with nothing to show. What he showed that is that he is out-of-form.
What Subramanium Badrinath showed in some of the previous matches was that he could take the innings to either a winning total or to win the match. When he batted along with Dhoni his batting overshadowed Dhoni's, he had fluent strokes, but Dhoni struggled.
Being a captain he had the advantage at his hands to keep off this Badrinath when he is in the wicket lest playing along he once again outbits Dhoni in batting. That's what Dhoni did.. he brought in Kapugedera and they both played a good careful partnership building innings from 16.2 overs till 19.1 overs. They put on a match winning 20 valuable runs in just 18 balls in which the contribution of Kapugedera was 8 beautiful runs of only 12 balls. A great contribution and gift to his team and his captain. Then after his departure came Badrinath who faced two balls and scored just 6 runs when he was supposed to score some 30 runs. Thus there was easily gettable shortage of some 20 to 25 runs.
Good superb captaincy indeed.
Dhoooni..Dhooni..Dhoni...Doni...Goni. How much would Goni had hit runs if 12 balls was faced by him?!!!
If Badrinath could hit 6 runs from 2 balls how much could he have hit facing 14 balls?!!!
Fantastic captaincy yaar Dhoni... keep it up.
What Dhoni helped by this was Rajasthan Royals snatched an exciting, heart-stopping last ball win by three wickets over the Chennai Super Kings in the final of the inaugural Indian Premier League Twenty20 tournament, here tonight.
Super Kings enjoyed a fairly decent start with Vidyut and Parthiv Patel scoring at a good clip. Vidyut was the more adventurous and looked to be in good nick as he came up with some bold shots, including a six off Watson before holing out to Jadeja, pulling Pathan. Jadeja did well to covert the half chance as he had to move forward and dive to get to the ball.
Pathan claimed the wickets of Patel who was caught behind by Akmal and then the dangerous Morkel who edged to the wicketkeeper just as he was looking dangerous with a couple of sixes. This proved a turning point for RR's since Dhoni came in and put breaks on the free flowing runs.
However, to the Super Kings credit, they did not ease off as Raina, who has been in tremendous form, yet again came good with a cameo innings of 43 that saw him bringing off several sparkling strokes.
In fact, so long as Raina occupied the crease, the Super Kings looked well on way to a big total, but Watson, coming in for his second spell, achieved a major breakthrough. Raina, attempting a big hit, sent the ball straight to Jadeja who accepted a comfortable catch. Raina's departure was a huge blow for the Super Kings who would have been eyeing a 180-plus target.
The Chennai innings failed to gain the kind of momentum that would have taken them closer to the 200-mark, as neither Dhoni nor Chamara were able to get on top of the bowling batting together for the fifth wicket.
After winning the toss put into bat the Super Kings made 163 for five, the Royals with the help of lucky brilliant half-century by Yusuf Pathan cruised through victory.
The Royals, needing eight off the final over, came through in a thrilling finish with two non-specialist batsmen, skipper Shane Warne and Sohail Tanvir at the crease. Patel missed a run-out chance and Balaji's one ball was given wide when it was not so and the match was lost.
Morkel had Swapnil Asnodkar caught at backward of point by Raina with his very first delivery and off the fourth, Kamran Akmal was run out by a brilliant direct hit by Ntini fielding at mid-on as the batsman attempted a single.
Pathan (13 off 76) lofted Murali the off-spinner, but Raina, covering considerable ground, failed to hang on to the skier, this eventually helped Pathan to score half-century. It proved a costly lapse, for Pathan blasted Murali for two huge sixes later to bring up the 100 of the innings and take Royals closer to the target. Gony then dropped a return catch to provide Pathan (33) another reprieve on his own bowling.
Muralitharan bowled Watson (28) and put the Super Kings back in the game. Watson and Pathan had added 65 runs for the fourth wicket and their partnership was assuming dangerous proportions.
Pathan then took charge, hoisting a couple of sixes as did Md Kaif who however, perished, charging Muralitharan to be bowled in the 17th over. The Super Kings struck yet again as Morkel sent back Ravindra Jadeja in the 18th, caught by Dhoni for a first ball heroic hit.
Pathan also departed, run out by Raina's brilliant throw in the 18th over as the game reached to a thrilling climax with Shane Warne and Sohail Tanvir at the crease.
In the 19th over 10 runs were scored off the Nitini, Warne scoring 4 off Nitini's last ball. This left eight runs off the 20th over to be bowled by Balaji who earlier gave away 34 runs in his previous three overs. The Royals were able to tie the scores by taking no risks and Patel missing a run-out-chance. Tanvir ran a two and then slammed a boundary off the final delivery to clinch victory.
