Consequent on implementation of Sixth central pay commossion Government of India had issued orders for the revised rates for Children education Allowance and other revision in the existing rules.These orders shall be effective from 1 September 2008.

Children Education Allowance and Reimbursement of Tuition Fee will be henceforth be merged and known as 'Children Education Allowance Scheme'.

Reimbursement can be availed upto a maximum of 2 children.

It will be applicable for expenditure on the education of school going children only i.e. for children from classes nursery to twelvfth.

Reimbursement shall have no nexus with the performance of the child in the class. In other words, even ifa chld fails in a particular class, the reimbursement shall not be stopped.

Reimbusement of following items can be claimed under this schem:-

  • Tuition Fee.
  • Admission Fee.
  • Laboratory Fee.
  • Special Fee charged for agriculture, electronics, music or any other subject.
  • Fee charged for practical work under the programme of work experience.
  • Fee paid for the use any aid or appliance by the child.
  • Library Fee
  • Games/Sports Fee.
  • Fee for extra-curricular activities.

This also includes the following items once in a year

  • reimbursement for purchase of one set of text books and note books.
  • Two sets of uniforms.
  • One of School Shoes.

The annual ceiling in this head allowed is Rs.12000/-

Reimbusement can be claimed one every quarter.

In case both the spouses are Government servants, only one of them can avail children Education Allowance.

Hostel Subsidy will be reimbursed upto the maximum of Rs.3000/- per month for a maximum of two children.</i> However, both CEA and Hostel subsidy cannot be availed cuncurrently.

The above limits would be automatically raised by 25% every time the Dearness Allowance goes up by 50%.

Reimbursement of Children Education Allowance for disabled children of Government employees shall be payable at double the normal rates i.e. Rs.24000/- per year for one child. See also Special Allowance for women with disabilities

Reimbursement should henceforth be made on the submission of original reciepts on the basis of self-certification by the Goverment servant.

The reimbursement can be claimed onece a quarter.Most of the schools are asking for payments of fees for full year at a stretch.Can the complete fees(maximum up to 12000/-) be reimbursed four time in all the four quarters of the year on the same receipts.

VV nidhi is now reimbursable, in Post 6th cpc scenario, CEA auditing is not as  stingent as before. You must provide receipts for payment whether it from private school or public school. Bus fare i think not yet came in CEA's purview.

CEA is admissible only to a central government employee, i suppose that  the widow in question is not a cen govt employee. Since that is the case CEA is not admissible.

You can claim only up to Rs.3000/- per child for a quarter. You can choose  to claim as combined claim at the last quarter. Then the ceiling is Rs.12000/- per child.
