CHINA'S LIST OF 8 WONDERS

China Olympics had its finale on Sunday, August 24, 2008, but the memories are still vivid with the countries' representatives, officials, and athletes who brought fame by winning medals of gold, silver and bronze to their respective countries. The Olympics had brought China great prestige in hosting the games and winning the greatest number of medals. China has shown she has world class in her technology, artistry, culture, and portrayal of strength and precision in the opening and closing ceremonies. It was just pure delight to watch as a spectator on television. The fears of many countries participating prior to the games did not materialize, the fears of bad weather, riots and protests. Thank the Lord for the smooth sailing of the Olympic Games.

Global Chinese Ministries in a special Olympic Edition listed China's achievements as:

1. The longest and oldest wall.

2. The largest population (over 1.3 billion)

3. The world's most spoken language (Mandarin)

4. The world's largest dam, the three gorges

5. The world's largest airport in Beijing

6. The world's fastest railway (Pudong, Shanghai)

7. The most internet users (over 200 million)

China is currently building the world's longest bridge (Shanghai to Hangzhou)

8. The largest Chinese indigenous non-denominational church

To the list of 7 most important wonders in the world is added the 8th achievement which is the True Jesus Church established in 1917 in Beijing, 400 years after the reformation of Martin Luther in 1517. The Church was the third largest Chinese Christian Church in China before the Communists came into power, but the first non-denominational indigenous church in the world. This was recorded in Encylopedia Britannica (1973).

THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA

The Great Wall of China is the world's longest man-made structure stretching for about 6,400 km (4,000 miles) from east to west China. It began during the reign of the first Emperor Qin Shi Huang to protect China from invaders in the north. Before the Qin dynasty small sections of the wall existed but was joined together during Emperor Qin's reign.

Some historians claimed that the wall was built and rebuilt between the 5th century BC until the 16th century BC during successive dynasties. 2 to 3 million Chinese died as a result of the very long period of building.

"The Great Wall of China, one of the greatest wonders of the world, was enlisted in the World Heritage by UNESCO in 1987. Just like a gigantic dragon, the Great Wall winds up and down across deserts, grasslands, mountains and plateaus, stretching approximately 6,700 kilometers (4,163 miles ) from east to west of China. With a history of more than 2000 years, some of the sections of the great wall are now in ruins or even entirely disappeared. However, it is still one of the most appealing attractions all around the world owing to its architectural grandeur and historical significance."

THE LARGEST POPULATION (1.3 BILLION)

China has a population of 1.3 billion compared with the world population of 6.7 billion. This compares roughly to one-fifth of the population of the world. In other words, every fifth person in the world is Chinese.

Jul 30 2008 About.com.:Geography

With just over 1.3 billion people (1,330,044,605 as of mid-2008), China is the world's largest and most populous country.

As the world's population is approximately 6.7 billion, China represents a full 20% of the world's population so one in every five people on the planet is a resident of China.

THE WORLD'S MOST SPOKEN LANGUAGE: MANDARIN

2700 languages spoken in the world

The spoken language is not known except for reference in the Bible. The reference to the tower of Babel was first mentioned with regard to languages.

Today, there are more than 2 700 different languages spoken in the world, with more than 7 000 dialects. In Indonesia alone, 365 different languages are spoken. More than 1,000 different languages are spoken in Africa. The most difficult language to learn is Basque, which is spoken in north-western Spain and south-western France. It is not related to any other language in the world. Mandarin is the most spoken language in the world, followed by English. But as home language, Spanish is the second most spoken in the world.

Since China has a population of 1.3 billion people and the world population is 6.7 billion, one fifth is Chinese, naturally Mandarin is the world's most spoken language.

THE WORLD LARGEST DAM, THREE GORGES

Home>>China Last updated at: (Beijing Time) Tuesday, January 08, 2002

Concrete Pouring Volume of Three Gorges Surpasses World Record

The volume of concrete pouring for the Three Gorges reached 4.02 million cubic meters last year. Up to now, the concrete pouring volume has exceeded world record for three consecutive years, creating a miracle in world hydropower construction.

The Three Gorges dam is a hydroelectric river dam that spans the Yangtze River in Sandouping, Yichang, Hubei, China. It is the largest hydro-electric power station in the world. The total electric generating capacity of the dam will reach 2 2,500 megawatts.

The Three Gorge Dams is the largest dam in the world, as wide as the Golden Gate Bridge and twice as tall, capable of generating 18 gigawatts of hydro-electric power.2,500 megawatts.

THE WORLD'S LARGEST AIRPORT, BEIJING

Beijing Airport, Terminal 3 is considered the largest airport in the world in land size (approximately 986,000 square meters). It is larger than London Heathrow Airport's 5 terminals combined with another 17% to spare.

The world's biggest airport is now finished and ready for the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The $3.5 billion gigantic dragon terminal, which is the centerpiece of the 501-square-mile complex capable of allowing 50 million passengers per year.

THE WORLD'S FASTEST RAILWAY, PUDONG, SHANGHAI

Is it a Bird? A Plane?

Nope, only Shanghai's flashy new Maglev, the world's fastest train. Way ahead of its time seven decades ago, the still-futuristic magnetic levitation system may yet redefine travel everywhere. By Ron Gluckman/Shanghai, China

Smiles abound inside the sleek train as, with a breathtaking whoosh, it rockets to 300 kilometers per hour in two minutes flat. Overhead, like a giant scoreboard, an LED blinks out our record-breaking progress till we top 430 kph.

THE MOST INTERNET USERS (200 MILLION)

Opinion CHINA Surpasses U.S. In Internet Use

Natalie Pace 04.03.06, 6:00 AM ET

CNew York - Chinese Internet users spend nearly two billion hours online each week, while U.S. audience logs on for 129 million hours per week.

Even if we assume that China is still behind the U.S. in terms of users, China definitely wins in another critical area. One of the most valued metrics of Internet usage (especially for advertisers) is time spent online. Chinese users average 15.9 hours per week, while Yahoo! (nasdaq: YHOO - news - people ), the most popular Internet site in the U.S., can only get its users to stick around for less than one hour per week (216.5 minutes per month according to ComScore Media Metrix). That's 1.765 billion hours per week online in China, compared with 129 million hours per week online in the U.S.

China Surpasses U.S. in Number of Internet Users By DAVID BARBOZA

Published: July 26, 2008

SHANGHAI - China said the number of Internet users in the country reached about 253 million last month, putting it ahead of the United States as the world's biggest Internet market.

THE LARGEST CHINESE INDIGENOUS NON-DENOMINATIONAL CHURCH IN THE WORLD

Indigenous churches in China began during the early 20th century without foreign control though some had been influenced by the early missionaries. The three main indigenous Chinese churches are the True Jesus Church, the Jesus Family and the Christian Assembly (Little Flock).

God established the True Jesus Church in 1917 in Beijing, China. The early workers, having received the Holy Spirit and revelation of the true gospel, began preaching the truth of salvation to every province of China. The power of God manifested mightily through the presence of the Holy Spirit and through accompanying signs and miracles.

Membership claimed in 48 countries (1.5 million). Presently, no one knows the real number in China.

The majority of the churches do not belong to the TSPM government sponsored churches. Taiwan is one of the strongest churches of the TJC. Encylopedia Britannica (1973) reports the church was one of the third largest Christian churches in China before the Communists regime took over China.

COMMENTS ON THE 8 WONDERS

Thank the Lord for the wonderful wonders that China had achieved throughout the years from the Great Wall of China (5 BC - 16 BC) to the present 21st century.

There are two distinct areas dividing the achievement of the 8 wonders of the world. One section is where God plays a major role in influencing the outcome while the other depends on the people themselves.

In Genesis 1:28, God blessed Adam and Eve and said unto them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it:" Population explosion depends on God. To control the population of the nation is completely wrong in the eyes of the Lord. For a country to be populous is a blessing from the Lord.

The second point is about the 8th wonder of the world when the True Jesus Church started as an independent church led by the Holy Spirit. The church has claimed that God is the founder, and not any human being. The church should not be dependent on any organization but the Lord God, no matter how powerful the organzation is.

As for the other six achievements, they are the result of the wisdom, knowledge, ingenuity, persistence and tenacity of the people who slaved over the projects.

May God bless China so that the government would open her eyes and show her what is best for China in her attitude towards the world.

Bro.Nathanael,

I am sorry I am not able to supply the exact details.  I believe the news about the Methodist churches are from the Sabbath Sentinel magazine. I did not keep the magazine. I have a lot of things I read from various materials and cannot recall the exact details.  The cancellation of the Sunrise Service is from RBC Ministries leaflet by Mart De Haan.

Please write to USA: RBC Ministries, PO Box 2222, Grand Rapids, MI 49501-2222

The Sabbath Sentinel: biblesabbath@comcast.net.

God bless.

Thank you for your confidence in the Chinese. Unfortunately, China is ruled by Communists and there are many wrong things that Communists do. They suppress religion and have forced abortion which is wrong.
