Those of you that know me well will not be suprised that many many of my articles are very focussed on income, that said..... many of them are not. I am however, like many adsense users, aware of the great potential that the Christmas period brings; not just for specific Christmas related content either. Consumer spending rises in most parts of the developed world, plus winter in the Northern Hemisphere means darker and colder nights. It doesn't take a genius to work out that more internet users, coupled with increased money flow, means that their are sitting ducks out there for rich pickings. Don't expect them all to come to you though, try writing articles with Christmas in the headline, and start doing it now (as I write this it is the 19th September). I have been a big scrooge since the age of about 16, when Christmas seemed to automatically lose it's profitability, and for that reason I am certainly not the ideal candidate for writing directly related xmas stuff. Instead, I am going to try and give you all a little inspiration and drive, and then ask that you post links to any hubs that this list of keywords inspired.

I have seen other hubpages articles which list potentially high paying articles, buts gives the impression to the reader that the CPC is the amount the publisher takes from a click. This is incorrect. The CPC is the amount that an advertiser is recommended to bid for that particular keyword phrase. The amount that they actually pay can be less, and then Google takes a big slice for its operating costs, another big slice for its bottom line, and the publisher is left with an amount that a) we are not allowed to disclose, and b) often varies anyway. Therefore your guess is as good as mine with regards to how much you can actually take away from these keywords. As a general rule however, the higher the CPC the higher your likely revenue per click. And that is before even taking into consideration the competition, one of my highest earning articles is focused around a keyword with a 20p (30c) CPC. If you can't catch the search engine traffic, you won't win the clicks.

The only thing that I am not going to do for you is to research the search engine competition. Remember that I am passing these keywords on to you, it is not in my interests to spend too much time researching keywords that I am not going to use. Your primary concern here is the Page Rank of the first page results on search engines, particularly Google, the best way to determine this (at least the best free way) is to download the 'Firefox SEO' add-on for the errr.... well the Firefox Browser obviously. You could just determine the number of Google search results for each keyword; although this is a crap and lazy way to analyse the competition. If you see a keyword on this list that you like the look of, it is up to you to determine whether you think that you can backlink your way to a decent SEO positioning.

All of the featured keywords are in good old British Sterling. The exchange rate as of today, 19th September 2009, is $1.62 for every £1. The lowest paying keywords that I have featured are £1 for Christmas gifts, therefore the lowest paying keywords on that list are also $1.62. The CPC, and exchange rates, can of course change on a daily basis. The lowest priced keywords that I have listed on the Christmas Cards list are priced at £2.00, therefore the lowest paying keywords on that list are £3.42.

I will be honest, I was all set to launch an attack on Christmas this year, before recent events in the forum completely stripped me of any motivation or drive whatsoever to publish anything of monetary value to HubPages right now. So these keywords are all yours guys, and there are thousands more out there too. Remember that I have only covered gifts and cards, what about decorations? Christmas shopping? Christmas Vacations? Christmas Food? There is an empire to be built around the big 'X'. What did I intend to do? I was going to concentrate on those big juicy Card keywords for adsense, with no escape routes through capsules, whilst using some of those lower paying gift keywords for Amazon capsules. I would love to see links to Hubs that have been written as a result of these lists, I am also happy to here from external publishers, but please no external links.
