Decoration - Christmas front door display

Its Christmas, and pretty Christmas decorations will be going up soon.  Take special interest in your  front door displays and decoration style. It’s the all important point of entry into your home for family and friends who will visit you this Christmas. Make it warm and inviting.

It doesn't matter how grand your Christmas decorations may be on the inside of your home. You must make sure your front door display for the coming festive season must be beautiful, dazzling and most importantly, welcoming in the spirit of the Christmas season.

Find below tips on how to decorate your front door this Christmas with front door displays.

  • A very popular way to decorate a door for Christmas with door displays is to use wide ribbon to wrap the door as a gift. Ribbons can be secured to the door edges. It can also be wrapped completely around the front door, thus serving as a compliment to the interior.
  • If you have a red door, opt to use green garlands to frame the door and a gold knocker to welcome guests for the season. Because red is the colour of the season, you don’t need too much red colour in the front door displays decorations, as the red colour of the door will overshadow such door displays.
  • Christmas wreaths are beautiful and loved by all. There are more unique designs than the usual, such as pine cone wreaths which make great door displays and have a rustic appeal, wreaths made entirely with ball-shaped ornaments or jingle bells which are fairly modern and whimsical.

  • You can drape the front door with a pine garland, and coordinate the look with a wreath by adding matching bows at the corners The wreath serves as a focal point for Christmas door displays, and will not be an overkill by having too much greenery.
  • Poinsettia plants make great accents to Christmas door displays. Have them woven into wreaths and garlands. You can also use them as potted plant displays on entrance stairways or porches for the Christmas season decorations.
  • If you have a loved one serving overseas, adding a patriotic touch to a wreath by weaving a miniature flag into the boughs makes lovely and touching Christmas door displays.

  • You can wrap your front door displays with bold red ribbons (except on red doors of course!), as opposed to a simple ribbon decoration. Wrapped front door displays with ribbons is a smart way to brighten up an otherwise dull door. Use strong paper that won’t easily tear with frequent use, and remember to leave the door’s keyhole and doorknob clear. Fabric is great as it can be re-used year after year.
  • Seasonal swags as Christmas front door displays is another great Christmas decoration idea. This can be used in the place of wreaths and create a very festive feel. Make the swag slightly longer than the door’s width but it must not overwhelm the door in any way. Swags are available in all kinds of different seasonal colours and designs. Try the simple twig and bow designs for an awesome rustic look.
  • Creating a theme, or telling a Christmas story is another favourite of front door displays for the festive season. Santa Claus themes with reindeers and the sleigh, North pole themes are also very 'Christmassy' , and so are the gingerbread and candy-land themes.

MAKE YOUR DOOR DISPLAYS WARM AND WELCOMING FOR CHRISTMAS

For your interior doors, don’t forget to add a festive touch as well. Decorating with candy canes, ornaments, bells, seasonal holiday door hangers and stockings are great ideas for decorating interior doors.

Any which way you may choose to decorate and create a front door display, make sure it is very welcoming. Make your neighbours feel like paying you a visit on seeing your dazzling and soul uplifting front door displays. If you live in snowy areas, make sure you keep all pathways clear and free of snow and ice. And to top it all,  be sure the porch light is striking, bright and  inviting..
