What NOT to do on CHRISTMAS DAY

CHRISTMAS IS IN THE AIR
Holiday season is just around the corner. For most parts of the world, Christmas preparation would just start weeks before the very day, but in the Philippines, preparation starts as early as the first week of September. Filipinos are surely looking forward to it and make sure that everything is ready once the calendar hits December 1st.
If you search on the web, you’ll see that we always keep on giving tips on what we should be doing during the most awaited season all throughout the year which is CHRISTMAS. Let us turn the table around and just focus on WHAT NOT TO DO on CHRISTMAS DAY instead.
1. DO NOT TRY TO OUTDO YOUR PREVIOUS CHRSITMAS EXPERIENCE
Make every Christmas unique and something to look forward to. If you have to break with your boyfriend last Christmas, make sure that you don’t do it again this year. Do not compare the food that you prepared the previous year to what you can cook for this year. It’s not everyday that we have plenty of money. What if you were just lucky last year and just won $1000 and now you’re jobless (knock on wood)…Just make sure that it will be as worthwhile as you want it to be.
2. SOCKS AS A GIFT SUCKS!
Do not give socks as present to you family members, boss, friends, and worst, your partner. They might assume that you think they are running out of stocks or they have foot odor. You can give something else for God’s sake.

3. DO NOT FILL YOUR HOUSE WITH CHRISTMAS LIGHTS ON ALL PLACES
I know we want to make this season as extravagant as possible by buying Christmas trees, Christmas decors and top it with Christmas lights. But heck, don’t make it look like a doll house full of Christmas lights; you don’t want to loose your house on CHRISTMAS DAY, right?? Remember just one loose wiring, a thunder or thrown cigarette butt can lead to burning your whole place, even the entire neighborhood.
4. DO NOT MAKE A SANTA CLAUSE OUT OF YOURSELF
For one thing, it’s way too costly to buy a SANTA outfit, and then buy a lot of gifts that’s very heavy to carry ‘em all. What’s worse? You will have to climb to your roof, go to the chimney just to surprise the kids and break your leg if you slipped. Then it’s not a good idea at all…What if, you don’t have a chimney??? Will you just go and climb your kid’s rooms and enter on the windows instead and still fall down and break your leg?? Uh-huh, not so unique at all…
5. SAY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND NOT MERRY “X-MAS”
Christmas originated from the birth of Christ, “X” was never His nickname so stop using it to abbreviate. You’re not even shortening it since both just have the same syllables. We wouldn’t be here in the first place without HIM, so all we can just do in return is to properly address HIM by HIS NAME or properly address CHRISTMAS as CHRISTMAS. He’s anyway the reason we are celebrating this day.
6. DO NOT EAT OUT
This may be one of those occasions that we prepare a lot of meals and HUMUNGOUS servings at that, but PLEASE!!! Do not eat like it’s your last day to breathe. You don’t want to ruin the day by throwing up on your new expensive holiday outfit, would you? Remember, there’s always tomorrow and you can always keep the food in the fridge.
7. DO NOT CUT A TREE TO MAKE A CHRISTMAS TREE
We would all wanna be as creative as we can be. You would probably say the original, the better. That is a no-no for me. For one thing, let us save all the trees we still have, cutting it will do us no good. What if the tree fell down on you? Do you think you’ll still enjoy Christmas wounded? We can just buy the fake ones and decorate it the way we want to.
8. BEWARE SNATCHERS
It is highly recommendable that you start your holiday shopping as early as you can when there are still just a few people doing the same thing. Its better that you buy your Christmas presents not having to deal with horde of people trying to do the same thing. Make sure that you hold on to your bags tight, wallets and cell phones are properly kept. DO NOT squeeze in to where the sales are with the whole crowd checking the discounted items, next thing you knew, you already loss your wallet and you don’t have any choice but to go home and cry yourself out.
9. DO NOT EVER ATTEMPT TO LIGHT THE CHRISTMAS CANDLES
Don’t you dare lit up the Christmas candles, most specially if you’re into number 3 that you want to fill up your house with lights of different colors and designs. Think again. I know they are pretty good to look at, but if you light it, and you’re near the sockets, or your Christmas tree full of paper decors, then just think of having a very HOT and UNFORGETABLE Christmas.
10. DO NOT TRAVEL ON A CHRISTMAS DAY
Yes, it may be fun to travel during this superb season, doing something out of the ordinary on a once-in-a-year event, but don’t do it on the very day. For one thing, all reservations have probably been closed by that time and It’s better to be safe and ground with your love-ones rather than holding your breath and praying you don’t encounter a turbulence or what not.
