Google Chrome is the latest web browser developed by Google. Its still in the beta stage and the latest version which I have downloaded yesterday is V. 0.2.149.30. It may be assumed as the next version of Mozilla firefox as well, Since it incorporates many features of it. As far as speed is concerned, I found it to be the fastest as compared to Internet explorer and Firefox. The browser itself opens quickly, as compared to Firefox, which takes hell lot of time to open, with many of its plug-ins.The wab pages also loads faster than other web browsers.

Basic Features

The most amazing thing about Chrome is that, it does nothave any Menu bar or Toolbar / icons. So one get a large screen ares to view the maximum of a web page. Hoever various menu items could be acquired through the two small icons located at the right of address bar. The refresh, forward and backward buttons are located just at the left of address bar. Thus all menu items and tools are situated on a single bar, providing more space to view the web page.

Another great feature of Chrome is "It Searches the web as you type". So, you need not type whole address of web page. As soon as you start typing first few characters of web address, it open a drop down list showing all web address related with those key words. Then you just have to click your desired link. This feature was included in the latest version of Mozilla Firfox also.

Browsing History

Google Chrome has a unique feature of storing your browsing history. Whenever you open Chrome, it shows your recent and most visited web sites in the form of thumbnails on the opening page. You can open open any of those pages by simply clicking on them. When you switch to another tab, you can find the same thumbnails there also, so that you can open another page from there too. Refer to the figure below, where the area coverd by blue rectangle shows the thumbnails of your browsing history.

Further you may import your bookmarks from Mizilla firefox as well, which it shows at the right hand side in the form of a list. (Area under blue rectangle in the snap shot). One can also find bookmarks at the top right corner, where it is contained withing a tool having a folder icon.

Chrom also incorporates an inbuild search bar, which you may use for searching your browsing history.

Another great feature of this browser is opening a website in cognito window. Any page viewed in this window dosen't appear in the browser history or search history, and they don't leave other traces, like cookies, on your computer either. This is a very useful feature for security purpose.

In Google Chrome, you can even create a shortcut of any web site and place it on your desktop, start menu or quick launh for easy access. Just open any web site, click on the control icon at the right of address bar and select "Create application shortcuts...". A new window will open asking you to create shortcut for desktop, start menu or quick launch. You can select any one or all three of them.

These are the main features of Chrome browser, which I could have invented so far. No need to mention that it has tabbed windows and can save your login name and passwords as well. The only bug I found is, its incapability to sort data according to date. While going through my "Hub Traffic Statistics" in hub pages, wheneverI try to sort my hubs, according to published dates, it gets messed up. I think the Chrome sorts the data, first by year, then by date and then by month. So, a hub published on 27 Sept,08 comes before the hub published on 31 Aug,08. I think the sorting parameter should be, first by year, then by month and then only by date.

Anyways, Chrome is still in beta stage and I hope such small bugs would get fixed very soon and we will have another great product from Google. Of-sourse this is the best web browser, I have used so far.
