First named in the 1980's Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a common but poorly understood illness that can cause a wide range of symptoms. What is even stranger is that the medical community is pretty much evenly into believers and non believers about whether it actually exists at all.

The condition is now seen widely in the United States with most people affected in their early 20's to late 30's although it can affect someone at any age. So far chronic fatigue syndrome is primarily (but not exclusively) affecting women and can vary considerably in intensity amongst victims.

For some the symptoms of CFS are so bad that it makes their life an absolute misery. Chronic fatigue syndrome has many symptoms but the one most associated with the condition is severe fatigue which makes even getting out of bed difficult or performing any normal daily activities. Younger people who have the condition generally aren't able to attend school for sometimes months on end which impacts on their physical and emotional wellbeing.

Many other symptoms other than fatigue affect someone with CFS including aches and pains in the joints and muscles, problems with sleeping, lack of any appetite plus other symptoms that may sometimes be associated with influenza but it can also cause depression and anxiety. No one knows the exact cause of chronic fatigue syndrome but it commonly shows up after a viral illness but there are common theories as to the cause of CFS including a prior contraction of Epstein-Barr Virus.

Although some experts believe it has a connection with a failing in the body's own immune system, however, other theories are being tested like a reaction to specific chemicals for example. In Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, there are many variables that can contribute to the severity of symptoms one experiences and some sufferers are laid up in bed for weeks at a time with others only a few days and then there are some who lead a relatively normal lifestyle.

There are however, things you can do to reduce the effect of chronic fatigue syndrome. It seems that a number of natural therapy treatments are providing some success and hope for chronic fatigue syndrome patients by increasing their energy levels which can also improve their depression as well.

Chronic Fatigue Syndrome sufferers find great relief when implementing a natural treatment plan that incorporates a detoxification, rejuvenation, and maintenance system. Chronic fatigue syndrome does not have to be for life and it is imperative that new treatments be researched and tried by the victims of this awful condition so they can claim back their lives.
