With a slowing economy, and more insurance restrictions, people are looking for ways to save money on prescriptions for Cialis, Levitra and Viagra.  These are expensive prescriptions with no approved generics (in the U.S.A.) used to treat Erectile Dysfunction (ED) in males.  Sometimes they are covered by insurance, but often they are not, and they can run between $10.00 to $15.00 per tablet!  In this article I will share some tips on how you can obtain these medications at significant discounts or even FOR FREE!!  So if you want to save money on Cialis, Levitra or Viagra check out these tips below!

Tip #1: Ask for Samples

If you already have a prescription for Cialis, Levitra, or Viagra then ask your doctor's office for samples.  If they have them...they want to give them out.  Otherwise they just take up space in their office, and eventually they expire.  So ask!  If you are too shy to ask your doctor while in the office, then call back after you get home and speak to the receptionist.  Explain that you "forgot" to ask for samples while you were there, and that your insurance (blame it on them!) isn't covering the pills.  Just say that you only need a few to hold you over until your next paycheck (work the sympathy angle!).  Often doctors have such samples...so just ask!  Also, if you have more than 1 doctor, try them all!  Your best bet is to ask a Urologist or Primary Care physician.  Even if you did not see them for the prescription, they won't mind you asking them about the samples.  By the way, don't bother asking the pharmacy for samples, as it is illegal for pharmacies to possess them or dispense them.  They won't have any.

Tipe #2: Get a Coupon or Voucher

If your doctor doesn't have any samples, ask them if they have any literature which may have a coupon, voucher, or discount.  If the do...use it!  If not, I will give you the websites you need to visit to check and see if the manufacturers are currently offering any programs, coupons or vouchers.

Cialis:  They are currently offering FREE samples of their original Cialis product, as well as their new Cialis Daily!  Click the link, fill out the form, and print your coupon.  You still need to use the prescription from your doctor.

Levitra:  Currently they are offering 3 FREE tablets with this voucher.  Click the link, answer the questions, and print it out.  Again, you need the prescription from your doctor.

Viagra:  Although their are no current coupons on their website, they are still running their Value Card program which offers a discount on your 4th fill of Viagra.

Check these sites often.  Deals change and offers are updated.

Tip #3: Shop for BEST Local Prices

Sit down and open the phonebook yellowpages and look up "pharmacy". Call 4 or 5 local pharmacies and check their prices. You may be surprised how different the prices are from pharmacy to pharmacy. Make a list and write them down. If you don't have a phonebook handy, just go online to www.yellowpages.com. Where is says "Find" type in "pharmacy" and where it says "Location" type in your zip code. Then click on "distance" to sort them by those pharmacies closest to your zip. Always go with the lowest price. We all get these products from the same place. There is no difference in quality.

Tip #4: Shop for Online Prices

You may be able to get some great savings by opting to use an online pharmacy like www.drugstore.com.  You can check the prices of competing online pharmacies at www.pharmacychecker.com.  For example, click HERE to see a comparison of online prices for Viagra 50mg.

These pharmacies will require you to mail your prescription to them, or they may be able to contact your doctor directly or transfer your prescription from your local pharmacy.  The savings can be enormous!!

Tip #5: Use a Prescription Savings Card

This is not an insurance card. It is a discount card which could offer you substantial savings on Cialis, Levitra, and Viagra (as well as many other prescription drugs). These companies partner with pharmacies. They advertise the pharmacy name in their literature, and in exchange the pharmacy offers discounts to members or cardholders. You can find these online, or through literature in your doctor's office or pharmacy.

Some examples of such cards are the AAA prescription discount card for AAA members and the Free Drug Card at www.yourrxcard.com or the card offered by Benefit House (yes, its FREE!).

For example, the "yourrxcard" (mentioned above) offers you the ability to search online and see what you will pay locally by using their card. I just searched for Viagra and this is what I would pay for a bottle of 30 Viagra 50mg with their card:

WAL-MART 100 VALLEY PARKWAY WHITINSVILLE , MA 01588 (508) 234-9196 0 mi $407.63

CVS PHARMACY 1163 PROVIDENCE STREET, WHITINSVILLE WHITINSVILLE , MA 01588 (508) 234-7341 0 mi $417.01

CVS PHARMACY 323 N. MAIN ST. UXBRIDGE , MA 01569 (508) 278-2456 3.59 mi $417.01

Tip #6: Split your Tablets for Savings!

Here is something you probably won't believe. But did you know that the price for 10 tablets of Viagra 25mg, 50mg, and 100mg are almost always the same! That's right! The manufacturer has certain marketing purposes for doing this, but you can use this to your advantage. This is true for Cialis and Levitra too. If your doctor wants you to have 50mg of Viagra, ask him for a prescription for 100mg. Then split the tablets and you get twice the medicine for the same price!!! You will need a tablet splitter which you can purchase for a few bucks. The tablets are not scored, but don't worry, it doesn't have to be perfectly accurate, just pretty close.

If you want to know whether you can do this, just check to see if your current prescription for Cialis, Levitra or Viagra comes in a higher strength. Here are the strengths that each drug is currently available in:

Cialis: 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg, 20mg

Levitra: 2.5mg, 5mg, 10mg, 20mg

Viagra: 25mg, 50mg, 100mg

Tip #7: Maximize your Insurance Benefit

Lastly, for those of you lucky enough to have an insurance that covers Cialis, Levitra or Viagra...be sure to get the most for your money! Your plan may cover 3 pills per month, or maybe 5 pills per month, or maybe 10 pills per month. Be sure to get the most tablets per month that you can, otherwise you may be paying that same $25.00 copay (or whatever you pay) for 3 tablets when you could have gotten 5 for the same price. To find out, call the 800 number on the back of your card and follow the prompts to speak to a representative. Ask them how many tablets per month of Cialis, Viagra or Levitra they cover. Be sure your doctor writes your prescription for at least that many tablets at a time.
