Classroom Hypnosis
68How to Hypnotize Yourself in Class
For many people, the concept of hypnosis is a myth are at a loss when it comes to trying to believe that they can learn how to hypnotize themselves to achieve better results in various areas of life. In reality, the people who are naysayers to the positive power of self hypnosis are often unable, or rather unwilling, to do so themselves, and have thus never experienced the benefits that can be realized from being able to control your mind through hypnosis to hone in on a task or duty and perform it with little or no distraction.
One place that you can certainly notice the effect of self hypnosis and the difference in achievement and performance among those who can focus versus those who cannot is in the classroom, particularly at the level of higher education. A college classroom is the perfect place to view the effects of focus and how performance can be affected by using self hypnosis or failing to do so.
If you are able to learn how to hypnotize yourself to control your mind, you will be able to, at the same time, take concise notes classroom while also absorbing the lecture.
This can be a delicate balance for many students. But for those who are able to focus into the lecture and block out thinking about other things, such as the party that might be going on that evening, the assignments coming due in another class, or possibly the personal difficulties one might be going through outside of the educational realm; the results manifest themselves through note taking.
Students who profess that they find it difficult to concentrate in a class will either take few notes and attempt to take someone else's notes or the textbook on its own and study these elements without much information from the lecture having been absorbed. Those students who are unable to focus, surprisingly, may also take too many notes from a lecture and try to take down every point a professor makes in writing in case they fail to absorb a particular lesson. In both cases, the amount of effort put forth for the lecture is not optimal for the student, and can ultimately prevent them from taking the necessary information from a class session and can prevent them from fully learning the material.
A student who is able to self hypnotize themselves to focus on the lecture, often is the person who will ask for clarification on points or will be seen only intermittently writing notes in their notebooks.
This style of note taking allows the main point of the lecturing to be absorbed mentally. The student then puts it down on paper as the student understands the information. The focused student will be able to digest the lecture, note the important parts, and then be able to process the information without having to read it word for word from a textbook or a notebook.
Examinations are more of a means for a professor to determine who has been focusing on the class as well as enabling them to test whether or not the student has been able to learn the material. Ultimately, a student who can self hypnotize themselves to focus on the lecture will be able to study more effectively before an exam and recite the material more easily than a student who is less able to focus.
In many cases, a successful student may not be smarter than other students in a raw measure of intelligence, but may be able to control the mind and optimize their study time and lecture note taking more so than other students. If a student can learn how to hypnotize themselves to focus, it can mean the difference between an average intelligence student being able to earn exceptional grades in a course and an exceptional student earning an average mark in the same class.

Thanks BlueSkyBright. We are taking part in hypnosis in some form or another everyday whether we know it or not.
Yeah, great point - hypnosis really is an everyday experience that we go in and out of without even realizing it!
Thanks for the comment. I joined your group creating a stronger network of mental health workers.
