How to Clean a DS Lite
74
Cleaning a DS should be done every couple of months. Depending on how much use it gives, you may want to clean it even more frequently. By cleaning the DS Lite, you keep it free from dust, grime and other grub that gets into the buttons, the screen and other areas that could interfere with game play. If your children own the DS Lite, make sure that an adult cleans it or they are supervised and taught how to do it properly. Otherwise, you may cause damage to the unit not covered under any warranty.
In order to clean the DS Lite, you will need a few things. You can use any type of glass cleaner or rubbing alcohol to clean the unit. You also want some paper towels and some Q – Tips. Do not ever spray the device or drip liquid on it without the use of a Q – Tip or paper towel. You do not want to drench the unit in any way, shape or form. This can cause liquid to get inside the unit and destroy it from the inside out.
Spray some Windex on a paper towel and gently wipe down the DS. You can wipe the outside and then open it and wipe down the inside parts, too. Make sure the Windex does not pool anywhere on the DS at any time; wipe up any excess with a dry paper towel. You can use the Q – Tips to clean around the buttons, dipping them in rubbing alcohol to get the worst of the grime out. You can also use a Q – Tip to clean the corners of the actual screens, too. This will be the easiest way to keep those screens clean.
Once you are done cleaning the unit, you want to ensure all areas are dry. Use the paper towels to do this, and do not attempt to dry the unit in any other way. By cleaning the unit regularly, you keep it in tip top shape and ensure it continues to be playable into the future. You also keep it free from germs that build up on the hands and transfer to the DS Lite during game play, the system being shared or other scenarios where it is left outside, indoors or elsewhere.
