What if someone told you that they would give you 1000 dollars, if you could get the number one position for the keyword clean red widgets? Or better yet, what if somebody told you that you could get 1500 dollars if you can outrank everyone for the generic keyword dirty blue widgets? On top of this, what if there were only about 20 contestants in all (as of now) that were competing to get the top position for the keyword phrase. I don’t know about you but those are some pretty good odds if you ask me. I do know that everyone has to buy a brand new domain name though for this, and I also know that everyone that is participating is going to bust their butt trying to outdo everyone else, so if you are up for the challenge, then let’s see how well you can make the search engines fall in love with clean red widgets.

Now a lot of you might be wondering what all this chit chat, and fast increasing search terms for the very generic term clean red widgets is all about. Well that’s what I am here to explain to you, the term clean red widgets is just a keyword term that was selected for a bunch of beginner internet marketers to compete number one ranking for. As far as I know there are just a handful of contestants that have entered the beginner contest, but every one of these contestants are a member of Vic’s academy. Just saying that, any member that has signed up for the academy knows a thing or two about search engine optimization, with great moderators such as Grizzly, Monica, Don, and Justin there is much knowledge that is spread there, and they all teach us to practice white hat methods of obtaining links and ranking for keywords.

This is what this contest is all about, it’s all just a huge learning experience for us all, Justin one of the moderators over at the academy is running it, and there are two different contests that are being ran, both are using generic key words, the different contests are split up into two categories, beginners and advanced. Each one of the contests has specific keywords that you need to rank for, the advanced key word is dirty blue widgets, and the generic keyword for the beginners is clean red widgets.  So we have to take whatever keyword falls in our apparent category and optimize it for search engines as best as we can and the main goal is to get position number one in the Texas database for the big G. This contest has only been going on for about a week and a half as I am writing this, and the rankings have been all over the place position wise. Not only will you learn about link building by running for clean red widgets, but you will also get a much better idea of how the rankings work, I have learned a bunch in the past week just from this keyword term.  

The rules for the contest are very simple and they follow straight white hat methods to get the top ranking in the search engine, no black hat techniques are allowed. Black hat seo is defined as making multiple farms that are auto generated and distributing links in masses, just to get to the top. If you make a couple thousand blogger blogs in right before the deadline of the seo contest, and you anchor 40% of them clean red widgets then you will probably take position one, at least for a day or so until the big G decides that it is nothing but spam. This is all about honest link building, and optimizing your web page for both onsite and offsite search engine optimization.  As I said in the beginning, you must be a member of Vics academy for you to be eligible to be in this contest, but joining the academy just for the sake of the contest is just bonkers, I don’t care how good you think you are at seo and making money online, this place will just add to the knowledge that you already obtain.

Sign ups for the seo contest for the terms dirty blue widgets and clean red widgets started November 9^th at midnight, and the contest will end January 20^th at midnight. Once you have your academy membership, you must purchase a brand new domain name, you cannot, use any of the keywords in the domain name. This makes it fair for everybody, all new domain names and none of them have the keywords in it, evens the stakes if you know what I mean. Then once you got that you can go sign up for the contest with Justin. By the way, not only am I doing a little bit of promoting this contest, but I am also working on a little bit of link building as I do this. Everyone has their own way of link building, whether its social bookmarking, article submissions, directory submissions, or just plain old I am going to get some authority links that are worth a damn. Everyone at the academy does all of these, but it all depends on how we do all of these, from analyzing our competition we will learn different strategies to get backlinks. This is not cheating, whoever busts their butts the hardest and gets the most links along with some great authority links will win with clean red widgets. See the crappy links are there to make the good ones harder to find, plus we will take any juice we can get.
