How to Clear the Google Search Bar

Everybody has used Google at one point or another. Nowadays finding something on the world wide web has never been easier. However, the more you use Google and depending on your browser settings, your search history might be available to anybody on your computer. Why let other people snoop through your searches?


Depending on what Internet browser you are using will determine how to clear the search history. If you are using Microsoft Internet Explorer, simply go to the Tools menu and from there select Internet Options. Click over to the General tab if you are not already there. Find the Clear History button and clear the history. You can also decide for how long the search history will be saved, if you are worried about your privacy, you can choose zero days, and this will delete your history by itself every time you restart your browser.

If you are using Mozilla Suite or Firefox, first go to the Tools menu. From there, click on Options, browse to Privacy and then the History tabs. You can manually clear the saved history from here along with setting up how long you want your browser to store your history. Just like with the Internet Explorer options, you can choose zero days for Firefox to delete your history every time you restart the browser. Make sure to save your changes before exiting the menu.


If you are using a browser other than Internet Explorer or Firefox, chances are in the Options, Tools or Preferences menu will give you the option to clear your history along with setting up how long it is kept. Tinker around with the settings to find what works right for you and remember that just because you have it set up this way on your computer does not mean everybody does. If browsing on a public computer or a friend's computer, even at work, make sure to clear the history manually before ending your browsing session.

Now, if you have already downloaded the Google Toolbar, you can easily clear your search history with it. If not, taking the time to eliminate your search history will give you the peace of mind when other people use your computer. It is easy to do, and anybody can do it. To clear your search history from the drop-down text box on the Google Toolbar:1. Click on the Google logo on the Toolbar to access the drop-down menu.2. Select the "Clear Search History" option.If you'd like to completely disable your Toolbar's search history, please click the "Options" button on your Toolbar and un-check the box next to "Drop-down search history.
