Central Syracuse Gets a Makeover
40Union Street Mural
On the 100 block of Salina, at the very heart of Syracuse in a historic district called the Clinton Square. Impossible to miss is a 3 story mural depicting the Erie Canal at night as it would have looked in 1912. The monstrous mural measuring 50 x 80 feet has been a staple of Central Syracuse since 1989.
As is with life business's move all the time. The new residence of the building that is home to this impressive mural is a bank. An ATM and canopy are to be installed on the wall housing the mural. The new owners of the building felt is was time to redesign the mural. The new mural will be done by the same artists on the same wall.
The new mural will create the illusion that the painted architecture is integrated with the real architecture. The Teller window in the painting will be a fully functional ATM. Making it the first mural that can actually give you money. With vivid colors this ultra realistic street art will give bank customers the feeling of actually being next to the Erie Canal when they use the ATM.
Only the finest of materials will be
used on the project which is due to be finished in July 2010. The
highest quality acrylics will be used to create the illusion that the
painted architecture is integrated with the real architecture.
Finally it will be sealed with a UV filter varnish proven to
withstand decades of
sun and weather.
