It is designed to bring insight into themselves, their behaviors and the environments in which they find themselves in a deep and meaningful way, relevant to the problems and afflictions of everyday living.

Despite the bad rap Christianity is receiving these days, Pastor Dale Hendry insists that Christian discipleship, that is, learning to live like Jesus Christ, is the only true and effective way to deal with addictions.

According to Pastor Hendry, tackling alcoholism, drug addiction or any other self-destructive behavior head-on is a lot like trying to take that nasty bone out of the pit bulls mouth by grabbing him by the ears—you will have a fight on your hands. It is much more effective to offer the animal a juicy New York strip; then he will happily forego the former object of his lust.

In the same way, it is the Center’s position that the chemical coping devices used by people cannot be simply ripped out of the hands of the afflicted, but must be gently replaced with life changing habits and principles designed for successful living.

The purpose of the website is twofold: not only is it reaching out to the hurting and addicted, but it issues a challenge to Christians everywhere to witness to others about their faith. “Only about one per cent of Christians ever reach out to bring someone to the Lord,” says Pastor Dale Hendry, founder and director of The Center of Hope. “This simply is not acceptable, we must be instruments of light in our communities, and the primary way to accomplish this is by testifying about our faith.”
