Thus, the more expandable the desktop unit is, the longer you can keep it running by adding RAM, hard drives or other devices. If you are purchasing a notebook, you want to find out what the maximum amount of RAM and hard drive space you can install so down the line if you want to upgrade, you can.

There are a lot of technical issues involved in buying a computer, if you are unfamiliar or uncomfortable with any of these specifications, ask about them. Your sales associate should be able to explain and help you understand why these components are important to the overall stability of your new computer.
