Concept artist jobs primarily involves the creation and design of characters, structures and worlds found within video games. Designs must fit and conform with the theme of the game and colours must be considered and utilised, to form a balanced scheme throughout the design of the game.

CONCEPT ARTIST JOBS AND THE REQUIRED SKILLS

A job as a concept artist, means you must have skills of a great character and animal illustrator,  proficient in life drawing, and, you must have good observation skills.  

You must have a good grasp of anatomy proportion and skeletal structures in life drawing, and  the rules of construction and pose that you learn from these life drawings will come across in your own creative work.

Creation and designs of environments of the games, including real buildings, landscapes , weather conditions, automobiles etc., must be made to seem real, believable, captivating and impressive.

This is the area where possessing observational skills comes to play in a concept artists job.

Start out by finding a course which encompasses all aspects of Art and Design at any Art College that teaches many different aspects of Design.

The course curriculum must include life drawing,  graphic design,  photography, animation, illustration, calligraphy and technical drawing. All of these helps you to find an overall understanding of art and design, and therefore work successfully as a concept artist.
