Master The Content Network With Content Bully
66Advertising on the Google Content Network can often times be frustrating. There are millions of websites out there that offer Adsense placements, but the majority of them are unrelated to what you are promoting. Plus, even if your ad does end up on a related site, it might not get enough traffic to send you any clicks. In this hub, I am going to review Content Bully, a FREE tool, from the developers of PPC Bully, that helps you find quality sites that can display your Google Ads. Using Content Bully, you just type in your keywords, and it will show you a list of sites that you can use in your Adwords campaigns. By knowing which sites to target, you can then optimize your adgroups so your ads will show up on these sites.
Targeted Sites = More Sales.
Content Bully is a cross-platform desktop application meaning it will work on both Windows and Mac. Once installed, the program is actually very easy to use. Lets say I want to promote a product in the Make Money Online niche. So I would enter in "make money online" into the keywords box and hit the "Check" button. I'm only entering one keyword for this example, but you can enter in as many as you wish. I'm also just interested in searching through the Google results here, but Content Bully also supports Yahoo and MSN as well. After Content Bully chugs away for a little bit, it comes back with these results:
I can see from the results that there are two sites in my niche that are serving up Adsense ads. The Info column tells me exactly what ad types a site is using. This is incredibly useful to know if you are using image ads and you need to figure out if a particular site supports the banners you have available. Next to it, is the Alexa rank column which gives you a rough estimate of how popular a site is. As a rule of thumb, I would target sites that have an Alexa rank lower than 500k. That way you can expect to get some clicks to your ads. Finally the Alexa Geo column gives you an idea of what countries the visitors to that site are from. If your offer is US specific, you may want to target sites with a value of 50% or greater here.
To verify that Content Bully is giving me the right information, I can just click on the site url, and it takes me directly to the page in my web browser. From the site, I can then check out where the ads are located on the page (above the fold or below the fold), and quickly determine whether this is a good place to show my ads.
Once I've jotted down the sites I want to advertise on using the Content Network, I would then go back to each of the sites again, and gather related keywords from the site. Next, I would login to my Adwords accounts and create an adgroup for each site, and in each adgroup, I would put in those related keywords. By doing this, I have a good chance of having my ads appear on the sites I've targeted. Combined with a persuasive ad copy, and a quality landing page, I am well on my way to a profitable PPC campaign.
Content Bully Pro
As I mentioned in the beginning, Content Bully is completely free to download. Once you start seeing some success with the tool, you'll probably be anxious to scale up your successful campaigns. This is where Content Bully Pro comes in, and it offers these extra capabilities over the standard version:
- Returns 100 results instead of the 10 that the standard version gives you
- Ability to filter results by various criteria (keyword, showing ads, alexa rank, etc)
- Target results by country
- Save the results to CSV for further analysis
All in all, Content Bully is a very nice tool, and if you do any pay per click marketing on the Content Network, you should should definitely add this tool to your toolbox. It's free to use, so why not check it out?
