What are DVD Region Codes?

Most DVD players are coded by the manufacturer’s who make them. This code represents the region of the world in which the players will be sold.

For example:

Region 1 coded DVDs and players are sold in the USA and Canada.

Region 2 are for Europe (including France), Greece, Turkey, Egypt, Arabia, Japan and South Africa

Region 3 are for Taiwan, Korea, Philippines, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Thailand and Vietnam

Region 4 are for Mexico, South America, Central America, Australia, New Zealand, Pacific Islands and the Caribbean

Region 5 are for Russia, Eastern Europe, India, most of Africa, North Korea and Mongolia

and Region 6 are for China.

Why are DVDs coded?

The manufacturers code DVDs and players to protect copyright and film distribution rights. Movies that are released in theatres in the USA may not be released until a later date in other countries. In many cases the DVD version of the movie may be out in the USA while it is still showing in theatres overseas.

It can be very frustrating for the DVD watcher to know that their favourite television shows or movies are available on DVD in another country but are not available to them. This is the reason why there are now many websites dedicated to helping people convert their DVD players into multi region or region free players that will play DVDs from any country in the world and in most cases it is as simple as punching a combination of numbers into your DVD player using your handheld remote control.

How to convert your DVD player!

Simply type into a Google search “DVD player hack code” and the Brand and make of your player. Eg. LG DV382 . You will be given a huge list of websites that will be able to help you. Some will charge you a fee to use them and others are completely free.

So what are you waiting for? Unlock your DVD player to the rest of the world and enjoy a whole new world of DVD watching.

If you do not want to change the region code on your Mac according to different region DVD, the best choice would be having an external driver. So your copy software must support external driver.

As I know, Mac DVD Copy Pro support external driver.
