What is Copper Repiping?

Copper repiping is a process of refitting existing pipes or completely replacing all of the existing hot and cold water pipes in a home, apartment or business. The favored method of repair is to replace galvanized pipes with copper pipes, most old homes or buildings were fitted with iron pipes or galvanized pipes. Over a period of time, the zinc on the pipes would break down causing the pipes to rust. Once galvanized pipes begin to weaken, they need to be replaced. Most people prefer to replace galvanized pipes with copper pipes; this process is called as copperrepiping.

Copper repiping is a broad job and should not be taken easily. If you choose to do the repairs yourself, then you will need to know the basics to get you started. The process normally involves the removal of existing pipes in a building and replacement with new copper pipes and fittings.

When is Repiping Necessary?

Usually homeowners decide to initiate copper repiping when they begin to see a dramatic drop in water pressure.  Decreased water pressure is often very frustrating; washing machines fill up more slowly, garden hoses have a much weaker spray and worse is, no water in the shower.  In addition, a repipe may be necessary if you are experiencing pipes that are leaking, corrosion of pipes, wet foundations and bad water odor with rusty color.

Why Copper Repiping is the Best
