End of Innocence
44End of Innocence
As I was working on my laptop today, I looked up at my television that was on my home's surveillance system channel, and saw that it was "snowing" leaves. So after three cups of holiday coffee and answering a few emails, I went outside and started raking the yard before it gets too thick.
I'm thinking about those of you that live in the northern states are shoveling snow, and us here in Florida are finally experiencing fall! I saw some children down the street playing, and another helping her mom put up some Christmas decorations. I no longer put lights out because every time I do, I have to find out why they go out. My neighbor already has a string of icicle lights over his garage that are out, and it is just a little reminder as to why I should not put them up! I don't have the time or patience anymore to bother. I applaud those who do try to make the world look all festive and nice for everybody, they are truly appreciated!
As I am raking my fourth pile of leaves and watching the children, my mind once again starts to stray. I remember placing the big "Charlie Brown" type lights all around our home when I was growing up. It is always fun when you are a child. Putting up and looking at the lights, waiting for Santa Claus. My family always opened gifts the evening of the 24th.
I recall the very last Christmas that I believed in Santa...I realized that the past couple years prior to the midnight church service, my mom would whisper to my oldest brother, and then he'd take me into my room (to basically baby sit me) and all of a sudden want to spend time with me. My mom would then, a couple minutes after walk into the room and say, "Hey look! Santa Claus came"! I would run to the sliding glass door of the balcony and look out to see him. I always missed him! Then I figured out it was my mother and father who were putting the presents out! It was simply too obvious! lol
Speaking about baby sitting...did you hear about the baby sitter in MN that was caught using a poor two year old girl in a child porn film? This happened Friday December 5, 2008.
Please don't let this happen to your precious little ones. Every parent should have some type of surveillance if they leave their kids with a babysitter in this day and age. Make sure to check out all the unique hidden cameras that are available to you. It is up to you to keep your loved ones safe!
Yours In Safety,
Regina Jacques
