The co-worker from hell can be your worst nightmare.

The characteristics of a bad co- worker are ;

1. Jerk

2.Difficult

3. Knows Everything

4, Rude

5. Annoying ,Sucking Up T0 The Supervisor

6.Bully

7. Disrupts The Whole Office or Workplace

8. Back Stabber

9. Anti-Social

10. Competitive

I know that most of us have dealt with working with "The Co-worker From Hell"

Confront them or ignore them, no matter how we try to deal with the problem an office jerk is still an office jerk !

My work location with The city of Chicago Health Department once consisted of the most difficult female co-worker that I had ever met.

MS. difficult meets every characteristics that I have listed above.

I was always the go to person at work because I was a union steward.

Ms. Difficult did not want to be your friend unless you were on her side at all times.

She  also played the role of stool pigeon !

There was no need for my other co-worker to complain to the supervisor because MS. Difficult had the supervisor in the palm of her hand.

My co-workers next move was to ask the union steward for advice on how to get rid of MS. Difficult.

I found that the best way to deal with a MS. Difficult or the co-worker from hell is the following;

1. Confrontation in private

2. Confront behavior in a small group setting with other co-workers and unit supervisor present

3. Invite co-worker to lunch for a one to one chat , to see if something is really wrong at home or is there a personal matter that you could assist her with.

4. Involved the co-worker in a job social activity.

Most bullies are anti-social and don't have any friends.

The above social  tactics do work . I left my position in July of 2008 and I was  informed  that MS. Difficult was doing a whole lot better and becoming a more sociable person !
