Creating Podcasts

Podcasting is one of the latest crazes to hit the Internet. From Harry Potter to the latest Apple technology to hit the market, everyone can share their own podcasts. It has never been easy to podcast, and with just a few simple steps, even you can take part in the craze.
First and foremost, plan your podcast. Organize your show, so to speak, in a way that people will relate to, understand and follow. Once you have a solid idea, you will want to invest in hardware. Make sure you have a microphone or a headset that connects to your computer. While some indulge in a wireless headset, having a wired one will ensure that you will not break up when recording and have to start from scratch.
From there, you need to find the right software. Both freeware and shareware podcasting software exists. Depending on your needs and your audience, certain software products may have pros and cons that will work within your goals. Once you find the right software, and begin recording your podcast, you will learn how to edit and record like a professional. Once you get the hang of it, you can begin tinkering with exporting your podcasts for sharing.
Once you save your podcast, you have to convert it so others can download and listen to it. When you save an audio file, especially in a raw format, it is generally a large file. Sometimes it can be over 500 MB. Nobody wants to spend the time downloading such a large file, especially since it can take some time to download the entire file. By using iTunes, you can convert the file similar to the way you convert a CD in the program to transfer to your iPod.
When the file is done converting, it is now possible to share it. The easiest way to do it for a beginner is to upload the file via a file sharing service or hosting it on a web server. You can create a simple page, share the link and listeners can download it to listen to via iTunes at their convenience. There are more advanced ways to share a podcast, but for now, while you are just learning, this is the easiest way to let your voice be heard.
