Credit card debt has been on the tremendous rise. But why is it that people are caught in this web of credit card debt?

Sarah woke up one day and discovered that she’s in great credit card debt. Many people find themselves similar to the case of Sarah.

With the use of visa cards, MasterCard, discovery or even maestro card, the tremendous credit card debt profile is not exclusive to a particular credit card. It’s majorly a disease and anomaly to a credit card user.

I will share two schools of thought on the issue of credit card debt

1) Nonchalant attitude of the credit card user

2) Hacking activities

1) Nonchalant attitude stand of the credit card user

Most credit card users of visa card, MasterCard, discovery, maestro card e.t.c. generally have a nonchalant attitude of spending beyond their capacity. Just because your MasterCard, visa card e.t.c. have a credit facility backing does not mean that it should be abused. If abused, you will end up in serious credit card debt.

One notable option to this is for you to have a budget of spending. This will require an act and will of tough discipline. This development will curb excessive spending and enable you to live within your budget.

2 Hacking activities

It has been noted that most credit card debt is traceable to online fraud and hacking activities. Most victims of credit card debt are innocent victims that have been trampled upon by activities of hackers.

Taking a cue from Sarah’s case, she lamented that she could not understand why she suddenly finds herself in a credit card debt. The simple answer to this is that she has been a victim of credit card scam.

One notable way to avoid credit card debt through credit card scam is to

1) Abstain from unknown shopping websites/stores.

If you want to do online shopping, go to a well known website store. Just because an unknown or not too popular web shopping site is offering a product at a cheaper rate compared to a well established website/shopping store does not mean you should log in your credit card details in order to purchase the product. Pls, beware

2) Always shop in a regulated and well secured website. Look out for a website that has key or padlock at the base. Then secondly, it’s advisable that when shopping online, make use of internet explorer browser. It’s good and safe compared to the other forms of browser

3) Be careful of dating, flirting websites that requires you to register and pay with your credit card. Some and most of them are put in place by hackers.

4) Even some well known websites are being built with a similar web interface. Don’t be surprise if you see a counterfeit website of walmart stores. One way to be sure is that always type in http……first before the www of the website name. This is important. Don’t just type in walmat.com. Pls, beware. Lastly, always look out for the padlock mentioned earlier.
