This article describes two types of crepe makers on the market. It then provides examples of actual crepe makers that you can purchase from Amazon. They have been selected because of their high consumer satisfaction on that site and the number of customer reviews that you will be able to review.

Different types of French crepe makers

The first is similar to a grill. The difference is that the grill is is round-shaped so that you can easily spoon in a light layer of batter, quickly cook the crepe and remove it. The cooking surface is non-stick so that you can use a lot less butter or oil when making your crepes. Traditionally, when you use a crepe pan you spoon in the batter and then add a second dollop of butter. Of course this makes it taste wonderful, but it also helps keep the batter from sticking.

The second type of crepe maker has two parts a dipping pan and the actual crepe maker. You put the batter in the dipping pan. Then heat the crepe maker to the right temperature. With a gentle rolling motion, you dip the crepe maker into the batter until it is lightly coated with batter. Then you raise it up out of the batter and turn it over. Generally in about 30 seconds you have crepe that you can roll off with your fingers.

Obviously these all have non-stick surfaces.

Buying a crepe maker

Amazon has a wide selection of crepe makers. They vary widely in price from under $100 to over $700. So there is a crepe maker for every need and budget. The crepe makers shown below were chosen because of their overall customer rating and the reviews. Of course these can change at a moments notice so it's always a good idea to check them right before you buy.

I know that you'll find just the right crepe maker for your cooking needs. Thank you for visiting this site, Nelda

You really should! I'm making strawberry crepes with homemade vanilla ice cream for a Memorial Day barbecue. I'm really looking forward to them.

Great article. I honestly didn't know there were actual crepe maker appliances! I have tried making them at home but that has always failed. My favorite crepes are ones that I get when I go to Quebec. They are in a cute little restaurant in Old Quebec (can't remember the name of the restaurant) they have fresh strawberries and piles of fresh whipped cream. YUM!

Oh yes girly_girl09, you definitely want a crepe maker. It is so much easier and faster than the traditional way. A few less calories so you can have more whipped cream!
