The Cullinan was the largest rough diamond ever found, weighing ct 3.106. He was on 26 January 1905 in the Premier Mine in South Africa by Frederick Wells discovered. He received 10,000, - $ for his discovery. The diamond was named after the mine owner Sir Thomas Cullinan. A general in the former British colony gave the stone 1907 King Edward VII on his birthday. 

The diamond was sent to the Asscher Brothers of Amsterdam for processing that have been successfully cut the Excelsior. They looked at the stone for several months. On 10 February 1908 Joseph Asscher was trying to conduct the first division of the diamond. But the gap tool broke while the diamond remained intact. In his second attempt, he split the diamond as planned. It is said that Asscher fainted after the successful second division. Joseph Asscher split the rough diamonds into three parts: In 105 individual pieces, including nine large and 96 small. 9.5 ct. remained rough diamonds. The nine large diamonds have been cut into crown jewels and are kept in the Tower of London. 


Cullinan I - Great Star of Africa

Cullinan I is a drop-cut diamond with a weight of 530.2 ct. It measures 53 mm * 44 mm * 29 mm and has 76 facets (including the culet and table. Cullinan I was cut from the largest diamond ever found, the Cullinan, and adorns the scepter of King Edward VII, he has exhibited in the Tower of London. You can take out the diamonds from the royal scepter, and wear it as a pin or pendant. Cullinan I is also known as "The Great Star of Africa" known "The Great Star of Africa". 


Cullinan II

Cullinan II is a cushion-cut diamond with a weight of 317.4 ct. He is the second largest diamond in the world and was cut from the same rough diamonds Cullinan I like. The diamond is centered on the front panel of the British royal crown. Cullinan II is also known as "Lesser Star of Africa" known "Lesser Star of Africa". 


Cullinan III and Cullinan IV

Cullinan III is a drop-cut diamond weighing 94.40 ct. Together with Cullinan IV, ind in 1911 he used the crown of Queen Mary. Cullinan III and IV can be worn together as a trailer / Brooch.
