Today i am going to show you how to customize windows xp. If your computer is slow i will also increase your computer performance.After doing this you will be able to put custom themes on your computer.Please do it own your own risk.But i will still tell you how to fix it.

First check what service pack you are running.For doing that click start menu.there right click on my computer and click on properties and system proterties will pop up.click general.in general look at system under system there will be will be you service pack written.

if you have service pack1 or 2 then upgrade to service pack 3.

After upgrading go to this link . (http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/SP3-UxTheme-Patcher.shtml) and download the patch and install it.

this was the easy way and if you don't want to upgrade then you have to do it manually.for doing this manually you have to check what service pack you are running .You can do that by click start menu.there right click on my computer and click on properties and system proterties will pop up.click general.in general look at system under system there will be will be you service pack written. if you are running service pack 1 then download this file (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Desktop-Enhancements/Themes/UXTHEMEDLL-Pack-DLL-for-SP1-included.shtml) after downloading. unzip it you can do that by right clicking on the folder click open with and compressed (zipped)folder. then download the replacer you can get it from here (http://www3.telus.net/_/replacer/).after downloading it uzip it like this right clicking on the folder click open with and compressed (zipped)folder.

then go to my computer, there click on windows, in windows folder click on system32. in system32 click on uxtheme.dll copy it and put it some were save.

then the two files you have downloaded before. replacer and Uxthemepack .open the replace.and open sp1 and drag the uxtheme.dll in the replacer .After that open my computer there click on the C drive in c drive click windows in windows click system32 in system32 drag and drop the uxtheme.dll file. .and replace it.

Same goes for service pack 2

And restart your computer. Now download any theme you like and put it up. if something goes worng tell me
