Making Customized Christmas Cards - Personalized by you for your loved ones at Christmastime
74Many years ago, dating back to the 1800's, people made their own handwritten customized Christmas cards. These were made as a craft by families, creative people or, for financial necessities.
Making customized Christmas cards was mostly always a family project in a sense. It was part of the fun and exciting activities of the approaching festive season. The making of Christmas cards accompanied events such as preparations of the festive Xmas meals, cakes and pie baking, and the decorations of the home, and the all important Christmas tree.
The materials used to create these unique handmade customised Christmas cards ranged from
- Oil Paint and water colour
- Dyes
- Crayons
- Coloured papers of different textures
- DyesPotatoes cut out to use as template or print stamps
- Collage and simple art techniques
Today, the making of scrapbooks has rekindled the interest of paper crafts and has thus has revived the making of home made customised Christmas cards using stamping, cutting and punching tools.
And now in the 21st century, nearly 200 years later, advances in digital technology has helped many craft and digitally creative enthusiasts to design and print their own Christmas cards.
Customised Christmas cards can now be produced by the use of personalised illustrations, such as the use of personal items of sentimental value such as family photos, holiday snapshots and celebration pictures.
There are also many computer programs and online features such as clip art, and loads of typefaces available now to produce unusual, funny, humorous or vintage themed Christmas cards. Or simply obtain a basic drawing program you can use on your PC to make simple Christmas cards.

Christmas is what we all look forward to every year. Thank you so much for your visit and nice comments.
GodBless.
Another interesting hub. I still find the vintage cards attractive but the modern one of the two children would be a great idea for famlies to send to relatives.
It does look lovely with the adorable kids. I agree it'll make a great card to send to relations, especially if the kids are family members. Thank you 2uesday for your visit and nice comments.
