Today I feel the shadow of the world overwhelming me,

I cannot escape,

I run far away from the darkness,

but the gloom continues to follows me,

I cry for the world,

each tear drop falls like a drop of rain,

from the cloud that shadows over me,

I become trapped,

I want out but no matter how hard I try to reach the light

it becomes farther away than I expected,

depression taking me into a downward spiral of heartache,

drowning in a whirlpool of my misery,

awaiting for my angel to come save me,

when she picks me up out of the darkness into the light,

she comes to my aid,

until the light shines on me again,

and my strength, happiness, love for life returns,

all doubts pushed aside,

my bright future set ahead

Writing this poem made me remember a song from the Rodgers & Hammerstein movie Carousel called "You'll Never Walk Alone". It's a very motivational song that always makes me cry, and I would like to share it.
