"Clutter drains your energy - and you don't realize it till it's gone. Every item in your home has an energy to it. When items go a long time unused, unloved and uncared for, they become stuck, stagnant energy that actually physically drains you of your energy."

- Ariane Benefit

Clutter is a big problem in many homes. When we first moved into our new house, it was all clean and very organised. I never once imagined that just 7 months down the road the house would be full of so much clutter. At the moment there is so much of it that I decided to bring everything I was doing to a halt and make some drastic measures to start decluttering.

The first thing I decided to do was to do some basic research about methods of decluttering and getting organised. I even considered getting a professional to come to our home and help us sort the mess out. I can say that over the past few weeks I have read more books on getting organised and self improvement than any other topic.

I'm almost getting there and I'm extremely pleased with my progress at the moment. I have concentrated on simplifying our life and developing simple routines. It's slow but it works, it's permanent and I'm very happy with the result.

You can get rid of your clutter at your own pace. Fast, slow, step by step, etc. Just choose a method that's best for you and stick with it. It's the best way and it works. Decluterring can be done in a few days or even a few hours depends on how much stuff you'll be managing and at what pace you'll be working. It's important that you do it right the first time otherwise your situation will be worse than before.

If you need some help with getting more organised and getting rid of clutter in your home, I'd recommend that you read The Definitive Guide to Home Organization for Busy People and Success Secrets Of A Clutter Free Lifestyle. These two books have helped me a great deal and I think they are some of the best on the subject. Both books are available as instant downloads so you can read them today on your pc if you like. Have fun decluttering and enjoy.

Great quote at the top! I'm drained by stuff management.

I used to see my clutter as a work of art in progress.

I'm seeing it now more as a weight on the heart, and anti-progress.
