So, I changed my whole dining room scene. Hey it was the holidays and all the red stuff didnt go with my current theme, which can be viewed in whole on my other hubpage, it is the grape and wine theme. My new dining room is all about christmas. I didnt have alot of money to decorate but I really wanted to make it pretty for the holidays. So in the upcoming pictures I will describe in full about what I did that didnt cost me much money at all. Granted my sister and mom thought I was out of my mind when I told them my ideas and they thought it was going to look really bad and I couldnt pull it off. They loved it, my family loved it and I loved it. It turned out nicer than anyone, even myself thought it would. Just wait till you hear what I actually invested in this little hobby of mine. You will be surprised. Decorating for pennies. True. Keep reading. Enjoy

Stand in corner

Look at the stand. Before it was all grapes stuff and baskets of fruit with baskets of bread and flowers. Well This is all I did to change it

  • Using the same plates as I described below I proped them up to look elegant of course.
  • Used christmas decorations and keeping some of my fruit just added a couple of ceramics of christmas and you got it . Done. Easy as pie.

change for just pennies

Ok I know you will think I am crazy but see how I did it. Looks expensive but not.

  1. Table covering- Dollar store $1.00
  2. Wine Glasses- Already had just added velvet bows I had from old christmas decoration $0.00
  3. Place Mats- Purchased felt from dollar store $1.99 yd. 2 yds.
  4. Plates- Purchased 50 paper plates $1.50. Yes it is paper. Doesn't look it though
  5. Napkins- Paper outside to match plates $1.50 for 50. The green napkin inside under paper is an old sheet that I cut and sewed to make cloth napkins. All tied together with bows around silverware already had.

Center piece

Ok now I really had to take a look at all the different ones you can buy off the shelves but nothing really caught my eye, plus I didnt have the money to spend on these items, so I then thought real hard. What can I do so here it is.

  • I had margarita glasses that was given to me in a set last christmas. I was never going to use them except they sit on a shelf looking pretty. Well I made them prettier.
  • I had an old flower vase that had some shredded up old styrophone
  • Of course old christmas decorations. I have so many. I never throw things away. It drives my kids crazy for having junk. Well it pays off I tell them.
  • And of course the small holly wreaths that go around candles I do believe.
  • Now of course you can see how this all played together.
  • I filled the glasses with the styrophone
  • added christmas decorations
  • tied a bow around the glass with an angel
  • placed them in the wreath

Ok now for the candles. You guessed it I already had them. And the stands too. I tied bows and added the candles to my stands. Perfect

Whole thing again
