There is a common myth in the mind of several people that only women suffer from depression. They think that men have nothing to do with depression. However, this is not at all true.

It is true that women suffer from depression more than their opposite sex but some men also suffer from depression. But most of the time men never express their depression. They express their depression only in the extreme cases. If an analysis is made then it will be found that the sufferers of depression among men and women bear the same ratio.

But still the reality of the fact is that there are more men in the world who have depression problem. These individuals never express their depression in general public. They hide it from everyone. They do not want the world to know about their depression. One more shocking fact is that only half of the total effected people go for medication. The symptoms of depression in both the sexes are not same and they may vary. The symptoms of depression in men may be different from the symptoms found in women.Men will generally show the following symptoms:

Lack of patience

Excessive display of anger

Indulging in rash driving

Going for Gambling

Practicing casual sex

Trying risky sport activities

Start showing interest in Drugs

Tendency for suicide

Hyper sensitive

On the other hand, women will exhibit the following symptoms:

o Feeling of helplessness

o Feeling of solitude

o Less interest in sexual activities

o State of crying

But if a person wishes to treat their depression problem then there is no difference in the prescription of medicine to both the sexes. Same medicine can be used by either of the sex. However, in some of the cases if an individual does not want to suffer from a particular side effect then he/she can go for some other medication. Women may not show their inclination towards the medicine that leads to weight gain. So, it is up to them as to which type of medicine they require.
