Harmful Foods
The liver and kidneys play an important role for good health. The function of both organs is to eliminate waste products that are in the body. If the body is continually exposed to pollutants and chemicals it can overwork the kidneys and liver. According to Dr Sandra Cabot M.D, known as the liver doctor, you can get rid of toxins in the body by going on a two to five day cleanse.
Start by getting rid of harmful foods that are in your diet. Avoid toxic substances such as caffeine, carbonated beverages, alcohol, cigarettes, pasteurized and processed foods, foods with preservatives, foods, sugar, unhealthy fats, red meats, and empty starches such as white flour. Also avoid chocolate, mucus forming foods, pasteurized dairy foods, tomatoes, and black tea.
Preparing For a Cleanse
Next you need to eat healthy foods for a week before attempting to go on a cleanse. Eliminating toxins to quickly, says Dr Sandra Cabot M.D, can have adverse affects like migraine headaches, nausea, and fatigue. It is best to ease into a cleanse slowly before attempting to detoxify the liver and kidneys. Eat organic foods as much as possible.
Daily: Have eight ounces of filtered or bottled water, flax seed to help flush toxins, lemon or cider vinegar to alkalize the body, two tablespoons of cranberry concentrate with water, apple or pineapple juice, slices of watermelon, papaya, kiwis, or mango, green drinks such as wheat grass or barley grass, a large dark leafy green salad, watercress, and legumes or whole grains such as brown.
Helpful foods: Shitake or Reishi mushrooms, celery, steamed vegetables, tofu, steamed asparagus, miso soup, wheat germ, sea vegetables, sprouts, hot peppers, avocado, garlic, peas, green beans, eggplant, onions, sprouts, seafood, carrots, green tea, and citrus fruits. Herbs and Spices: dandelion, ginger, fenugreek seed, licorice, cayenne, Aloe Vera, lecithin, dandelion, tarragon, turmeric, cumin, coriander, ginger, basil, parsley, dill, and paprika.
Exercise
Get plenty of exercise everyday for optimum health. If you are not fond of rigorous activities then you can swim, stretch, do yoga or Tai Chi‘, bicycle, or take a walk.

Before you start any diet or detoxification it is important you seek medical advice or a health professional skilled in detoxifying the liver and kidneys.
