It is very important to have a balanced diet, but it is even more important during your pregnancy as you are eating for two. The baby consumes everything you eat, too. For that very reason you have to eat enough for the two of you. Note that we dont mean eating much, but having a well-balanced diet by eating enough to both of you.

During pregnancy, it is very important that you dont miss a meal, especially your breakfast because it is the most important meal of the day. Besides, the baby probably has been waiting for it since the middle of the night. Sometimes you wait so long that you feel sick, that it the voice of your body telling you to eat!

Always make sure you get enough food during pregnancy. 4-6 servings of dairy a day is needed for a healthy pregnancy, including cheese, milk, yogurt. Your baby needs calcium to develop healthy growing bones and dairy provides the baby with it. On the other hand, extra calcium wouldn’t hurt you either, it is especially good for your teeth and bones.

Fruit and vegetable are also very important during pregnancy. It is always good to consume lots of green and also sweet potatoes. This both gives your body what it needs and also you’ll start to have and feel more energy running through your body. You can try this at home, by giving up sweets just for a week and repling them with healthier items. In short time you will be surprised to see how energetic you feel.

Not all foods are safe during your pregnancy, a few things you should avoid eating are as follows:

  • Unpasteurized products - brie
  • Certain fish - exotic, shark, swordfish, anything high in mercury
  • Raw eggs
  • Undercooked meats - lunch meats.
  • Caffeine- soda, chocolate. (the less caffeine in your system the better it is for the baby)

It is always best to ask your doctor about what to eat during pregnancy, if you ever feel unsure. Generally, fresh and natural ingredients make a healthy diet for you and your baby. Also you will notica that your stomach doesn’t handle certain foods (these may include foods that contain grease, fast foods, meat, and certain foods that have a strong odor)

Eating healthy is just the thing you need both during and after pregnancy, in your whole lifetime. It doesn’t mean cutting off meals, you can still treat yourself from time to time. Just go out and get a frozen yogurt or a smoothie.

Getting enough and healthy food through the day, it is ok. But there is one more thing to support your body and your baby; that is your fluid intake! You have to take lots of water (that really means lots of water) nad juices (healthy and fresh juices)

Supported by this healthy fluid intake, your healthy fresh diet will gain you a healthy pregnancy. Yet, when you start to take care of your diet once and when you see the difference, you will probably continue to take care of what you consume even after your pregnancy!

The baby will thank you later. Who knows, you may discover that you really enjoy eating healthier and continue it even after the pregnancy.
