Digital Camera batteries are the power source of your camera and when they work properly they will allow you to capture all the images that you want of any newsworthy or memorable moment. But there's nothing worst when they fail at the wrong time. Want to know how to make them last longer? You can not only save money but you can also avoid both battery And camera damage by selecting the right batteries for your camera. Here are some tips to choose the right type of  digital camera batteries

Typically, Today's Digital Cameras Use Three Types Of Batteries As A Power Source:

Alkaline Batteries

Regular Alkaline batteries are used for everyday things like TV remotes, garage door openers, as well as in some digital cameras. There are a  lot of brands to choose from like Duracell, Energizer, Maxwell, Sony, as well as others. The biggest advantage to using them is that they are cheap and all you have to do is run to the nearest drugstore to replace the used ones. the disadvantage is that if you plan to use your camera more than just on a few occasions buying batteries all the time can get expensive

Nickel-metal hydride cell or NihM rechargeable Batteries

Does your digital camera use AA or AAA batteries? If this is the case check the owner's manual to see if you can use NiHM batteries. Even though they are a little more expensive, replace your alkaline batteries with these rechargeable batteries and buy the digital camera battery charger as well. Yes you will pay more now, but if you plan on using your camera will more than make up the cost to have to buy everyday alkaline batteries every-time that you take some pictures. A Nihm battery can be recharged more than 400 times.

Lithium Batteries

Lithium or li-on batteries is the battery of choice of most camera manufactures. They are more powerful than Alkaline and Nhim  batteries and they can be recharge a lot more than other types. They are however more expensive and if your camera uses this is a power supply then it is in you best interest to buy more than just one (more on that in a minute)

Getting The Most From Your Digital Camera Batteries

Always Take A Spare

always have a spare: there is nothing worse that being in a place taking pictures only to have you batteries go dead and losing the shot. when you are out with your camera always have a back-up spare of batteries with you

Wait Before You Playback Your Images

It's always fun to take a picture and immediately play it back. But do your best to avoid playback as much as possible until you've finished the shoot completely. If you need to play back a couple of pictures that's OK, but nothing is worst than trying to get that all important shot and watching your battery meter show empty because you took 60 photos and played each one back right after.

Use Batteries With High mAh Ratings

Digital camera batteries hold a rating to indicate their capacitance to hold power before it drains away. This is called the Milliamp and your battery will show the letter mAh on it. the high the number the longer the battery can last without needing to be recharged so that you can take more pictures. Use batteries that have high mAh ratings

Never Mix Your Battery Sets

Keep you battery sets the same and never mixed them. If your camera manufactures suggest using  4 Duracell AA  batteries with a mAh capacity of 1850, only use those. By mixing different batteries with different mAh ratings can damage both your batteries and the camera.

Buy More Than One Of The Manufactures Batteries

If you are buying a digital camera and the manufacture requires you to buy a special battery, buy a few of them along with your camera purchase because later on you will be glad you did. Many batteries for digital camera makers use proprietary rechargeable that last a lot longer that other that you may use. The problem that arises is that all rechargeable at some point will lose their ability to hold a charge and you will throw it away. If you don't have another battery on hand you simply cannot go down to the local drugstore and get one.

Also there is a good chance that your model of camera may become obsolete after a few years. That may mean that the digital camera battery that it uses will also become obsolete as well. And though you'll own a perfectly good camera, without any batteries to use it will be nothing more that a conversation piece

If you camera supports regular AA alkaline batteries and your only intend to whip it out during weddings or or on those special occasions then making a trip to your local store to buy batteries is good enough. Just remember to remove them from the camera once your though from the days event to extend the life of them. If however you are really going to use your camera and enjoy it then it is in your best interest to look at digital camera batteries in a different way to save yourself some money as well as time. There is nothing worst than being somewhere and something newsworthy is taking place and you can't capture any images because your camera battery gauge is on empty.

There are lots of digital camera batteries on the market that is right for your camera. most of the list prices a far less that the recommended prices and you really can't growing with any of them
