6 years back my brother bought a 5 mega pixel digital camera. It cost 16k that time. We all were amazed by the quality of the camera we got. 5 mega pixels was very much that time. The picture quality was superb; we could even see the pimples on someone’s face. But time went and technology changed. A 5 megapixel camera is common in today’s mobile phone, not at all common in today’s digital cameras.

A 5 MP Memory

Digital Camera

A Digital camera is one which stores pictures digitally on a memory chip, like memory card, DVD or Flash Storage. It’s a compact device and very handy too. In fact Digital Cameras became popular only because of the compactness and storage type they have. We don’t want to go into the history of the digital cameras. But we will touch it, though they try to make one possible was started in 1961, the success was seen in 1975 only. In Dec. 1975 first prototype model of the Digicam was introduced.

What’s the Mega Pixel stands for?

One mega pixel stands for 1 million pixel. It not only defines number of pixels in the image but also defines the number of image sensors in the digital camera.

How much you can get in the market?

10 megapixel? 12 Mega pixel? Leave it shoot the money and you will get more than 16MP cameras in the market today. There are numerous companies in the market, from Sony, Kodak , Conen , Nikkon to Fujifilms. You can get a 8 MP camera at as much low as 4k.

How much mega pixel to go for

A megapixel defines the camera quality, but not fully. Because a 7 MP is more than enough to see bacteria’s on your screen. So if you are buying a camera only for MP , think again. Don’t go for more than 10 MP if you are a casual photographer.

What to look in Digi Cam while Buying

A megapixel defines the camera quality, but not fully. Because a 7 MP is more than enough to see bacteria’s on your screen. So if you are buying a camera only for MP , think again. Don’t go for more than 10 MP if you are a casual photographer.

What should we look in a digital camera while buying.

Mega Pixel: Don’t go for more than 10 MP Cam if you are a casual photographer.

Optical Zoom: More is always better in this. Go for minimum 4x Optical Zoom.

Compactness: Look for more compact cameras, as they will fulfill your needs better.

Battery: Rechargeable is better than AAA cells. But AAA cells are better if you are a traveler. Just keep an extra pair and also no need to carry the bulky charger always.

Lenses: Try to go for a good quality lenses.

There are many more factors to look for like the screen size, touch screen, digital zoom and many more. But all depends on the individual’s choice. So I won’t say anything about them.

Choose wise. If you are a serious shooter or travel more and want to take great pictures, go for DLSR’s. They are worth the price for real life pictures. And if you want to enjoy casual moments in your family, friends go for a Digital Camera.

Good article! I think there are a lot of people who use cameras for non-professional use and get too wrapped up about mega pixels..
