Techniques For Direct Selling:

Here i'm going to show you some techniques i use when i was working as a direct salesman.

First of all everyone knows selling is a numbers game, the more people you talk to, the more of a chance that you'll actually get someone to buy your product or service. Because it's a proven way to find the buyers amongst the non-buyers. So even if you don't sell anything from the start, just keep it up. Sooner or later, once you get all the no's out of the way you'll start getting the yes.

Example: Lets say there are 2 Mcdonalds, one is on a main street with tons of traffic and the other is on a small back street. Which one do you think will get more sales? Of course the one on the main street, because of the traffic and more people see's it. This also applies to sales. The more people you get to see your product/service the higher of a rate you'll get.

Okay now lets get down to the point, here are some techniques to use for direct selling. I'm going to show you some techniques that is going to allow you to be able to sell more of your product/service.

1. Impression: This will be the customer's first impression of you. This will also determine whether or not he or she will actually give you a moment of their time.

Try these techniques:

Smile- It's a good icebreaker. Normally when you see someone smile at you, what would be your first impression. Of course it's to smile back at them. Which this will also cause it to be easier to approach them.

Eye Contact- It shows confidents, as well as trust. If you're talking to someone and looking away at the same time, do you think that they'll trust that you know what you're talking about. Would they even take you seriously, or be able to trust you. So always try to keep eye contact when you're giving a serious presentation.

Impulse"Excitement"- If you're excite about your product/service of course the person listening to you is going to want to see what you got, just out of curiosity.

Example: Lets say you walk into a store and you see a guy standing there laughing and saiding how good of a product that is on the shelf, wouldn't you want to take a look to see what it is just out of curiosity. " If you're excited about your product/service, he or she will as well. " Impulse is one of the main key to getting a sell.

In the introduction of your impression you want to raise 2 questions:

who you are? what you are doing? " Hi how is it going today "

After you introduce yourself you should always pause and wait for a responds.

Reason being so is that:

- It'll insure that they are listening to you

- Let them get comfortable

- See if they are willing to build a conversation with you "not just throwing a sale pitch at them"

It is always important to be sincere and confident to get a possitive approach. With a good impression you're more likely to get a sale.

2. keep it short and sample: Telling your customer why you are here, and what you have.

Example: Hello sir, we're just in the area today introducing everyone to our new product. And since we're doing a promotion everything is ?% off today.

Words you want to use- promotion, special, deals, offer, %off. These will also helps you to build excitement and curiosity.

Words you want to avoid- selling, sales, cheap, buy. Using words such as these can kill impulse.

If you have a product the best thing to do is trying to get it in their hands. It'll help make them feel the sense of ownership. Once you have your product in their hands then start you presentation.

3. Presentation: In the presentation you will answer the question what it is that you have and how much is it. When you are doing your presentation you want to keep it short and simple. Just explaining what the customer needs to hear, you don't want to lose impulse by over selling the product.

- Brief explanation of the product " main key point of the product"

- Be real clear and precise when you are explaining

- Paint a picture in their head

Example: These are the new high Digital scanner, which also has a IC CHIP inside. They would be great for every family! You can also use them as gift for birthday, christmas, holidays and it would make a prefect gifts, since everyone can use one.

Now after a explanation of you product/service its time to tell them the price. This is usually where the customer will determined if he wants it or not. So you always want to make your customer feel that they are getting one hack of a deal.

- Stress the deal

- Break the price down

- Always remain excited but not desperate

Example: Now online or at the store they're normally going for $89.99 but as i said earlier, since we're doing a promotion we're just giving it out today for ONLY $69.99! Meaning you'll save $20.00 on each one that you pick up!

Sometime some customers don't even need to be impulsed and they just want to know the price. Or they'll stop you in the middle of your presentation to ask for the price. If this happen just go straight to the price showing then how much they are going to save. Always read and recognize your customer, knowing what they just want to know.

4. Closing the deal: Making sure the customer has come to a conclusion about purchasing the product/service.

Here are some key points to closing:

- Be serious

- Have direct eye contact

- Assume the sale

- Ask yes - yes question

- Nod your head

- Try to avoid silence

Example for closing line:

"How would you like to pay for that, cash or check?"

"How many do you want?"

"So is this for you or is it a gift?"

"Where should i put it?"

Remember always close on a positive atitude. When closing only close 3x or so if the customer says no, he ain't going to change his mind and you'll just be wasting time or getting them mad. Confidence will determine your success rate. And always remember to be IN CONTROL of the conversation.

There you have it. I hope this will help you out a little as it did for me. Feel free to leave a comment.
