My Dog is King and He Knows it!

When you treat your dog as the king, trust me he knows that! A dog understands after just a few days that he is loved and cherished but more importantly he is being pampered. He knows that no matter what he does he isn't going to be kicked outdoors. He can thus leave his hair wherever he feels like. He can tear off as many pillow cases or teddy bears of the household as he wants. He can roam about all the wrong places. He can open the refrigerator and take a sip of drinks you have kept for yourself and take a bite of the food meant for your own children.

If you like all of the above, and you want your dog to behave in this manner then its well and fine with you. But if not then you need to let your dog know and understand that he is not the king and he needs to behave and be disciplined.

Dog training collars are used to train dogs using physical punishment. It helps I making the dog understand that he is not to leave the yard or cross it. If he does then he is to receive a mild shock which is not harmful in any sense of the term and is approved by vets. But sometimes threatened dogs become very aggressive so it is always better to avoid any kind of violence and train the dogs in any other way possible.

Again trying to train dogs like children can't work as dogs do not understand our language and they only note the pitch of our voice. So a shout is taken as an invitation to bark.

One method is consisting of making sure that the dog won't get any kind of reward through that inappropriate conduct, since any conduct that doesn't lead to a benefit ends up being finally abandoned. Some dogs like to jump on people to greet them but many people don't like it. So what you can do about it is turn your back on the dog until it greets you on its four paws. When the dog does it the correct way it needs to be encouraged and congratulated. It is necessary to be constant and not to pay attention to them until it calms down.

Another technique consists of interrupting the undesired conduct through a stimulus the dog will consider unpleasant as a shot of water or a disturbing noise for instance. An adequate training avoids bad habits from appearing. If they have already appeared it is almost always possible to eliminate them only with patience and counting with the help of a specialist in canine behavior.

Rewarding a dog is the best way of reinforcing its behavior, but only the good one. Dogs answer better to short and simple order, accompanied by visual signs. The tone of your voice is as important as the expression of your face; smile when you are happy and frown if the dog disobeys you.
