"Everyone has the right freely to participate in the cultural life of the community, to enjoy the arts and to share in scientific advancement and its benefits." Universal Declaration of Human Rights

The peer to peer networking is one of the greatest of nowadays problems regarding internet. Because I'd started with this quote, I don't want to be misunderstood as a one-sided militant for this kind of activities, regardless of the copyright issues, which in fact are formulated in the same Declaration. First of all we have to know that this Declaration appeared in 1948, long before the digital era and as a fact we have to be rethink it in an age of so great influence of media.

Before the computer it was the TV, as the main source of information. In the states behind the Iron Curtain this was the main instrument of propaganda for the totalitarian regimes. Of course, for us, who are living in a democratic and free society witch provides the means for a free and indiscriminate access to information wasn't the case, having, instead of one TV channel, a multitude and variety of channels of information from which to choose. One might say that this is what provides the basis for a free society. But is it really so? I wanna came here with an example. Let's remember a little bit the recent conflict in Irak. Before and after the american troops where deployed all of us where hearing a lot of voices opposing to this war. One might look at the statistical survey made at that time regarding people sustainability of a military intervention. Was this fact really represented by the media as it should be? I'd rather let everyone think by himself.

The internet, for now at least, it's a place where information can be shared in a free way, whit out any restrictions and it should remain this way, despite the corporate efforts to take over what may be the last stand of the individual freedom of speech and thought. Did you know the US Government has put pressure on the Swedish Department of Justice to bring to trial the Pirate Bay founders, as a result of the lobby made by the Hollywood corporatocracy and deifying the fact that in Sweden the Pirate Bay activities where perfectly legal. Do you know about the internet 2 project, which in fact is the goal of the corporations to monopolize the virtual space in the same way they have monopolized the economy. Put yourself in the situation in which you'll have access only to some official government or corporate owned sites because the rest of them simply will cannot keep up with the taxes imposed.

You maybe think - ok, there goes another paranoid freak- and maybe have the right to think so as a result of living in a democratic state were you have the liberty of speech and no censorship can deny this, for example,in the way the chinese government banns the internet. Are you indeed ? Then maybe you can explain to me why the following web pages are simply not working for who knows what reasons:

www.brainwashthemovie.com -a banned site of the documentary made by 2 canadian guys, which shows the effects of the Bush administration propaganda campaign on the american people

You'll now maybe think twice when you hear that "illegal downloading is a great threat to our economy" a phrase that can be easily translated in "illegal downloading is a great threat to our profits". Wanna try it? It's simple. Just download a torrent application from http://www.bittorrent.com/ and install it. After that acces http://www.torrentz.com/and search for whatewer you like. The selected item will automatically be opened with the torrent program you've just installed and start downloading. HAVE FUN.
