How do I download Microsoft Office?

Microsoft's web site provides for direct downloads of their latest products in both full form and trial versions. There online downloads also provide access to the latest updates, add-ons and other features not found anywhere else for their products.

Microsoft Office currently offers a sixty day trial.

Go the Microsoft downloads page and click the download button. From there, choose which version you want for your system and click "try now." You will asked to use your Windows Live ID or create a new one; for those using a Microsoft.NET passport, this is the same user ID. Once signed in, you will be required to register your information or confirm it is correct. You will also be asked some demographic questions about what you intend to use Office for including whether or not you want to sign up for updates from Microsoft.

You will then be provided with a trial product key. Make sure to write the key down and keep on file for the duration of the trial. Then, click the "download now" button and wait for your download to finish. If you are using Internet Explorer, you will be prompted to save the file, and you will be able to choose where you want it to save. For Firefox users, depending on your settings, the EXE file will download directly to your desktop or other specific place on your hard drive.

After installing the trial and entering in the trial product key, you will be all set to test drive the new Office software. You can log back into Microsoft's web site and read tutorials on common features as well as ask questions. If you have problems with the trial or any of the Office software, Microsoft can help you through their web site, too.

At the end of your sixty day trial, you can log back in and purchase a full product key, enter it into the Office suite, and you will be able to unlock the full features of the program and keep it running into the future.

You can also uninstall the trial at any time should you not like what you see, but once you install the trial, you will only have sixty days to test it out and see what Office has to offer you.

Unfortunately, no. You do have to own Office 2003 at a minimum to qualify for the upgrade.
