A familiar spirit and a spirit of divination are very similar in nature. In fact, it is not unusual for a number of strongmen to gang up together if it serves their purpose! When there is no clear cut distinction between these two spirits, I just bind both of them at the same time in the Name of Jesus! A familiar spirit is usually involved in the areas of necromancy, "supposed consultation with the dead", spirit mediums, clairvoyance's, yoga, spiritists, psychic powers and prophecy, transcendental meditation T.M., Extra-sensory perception E.S.P., cocaine, crack and other mind-altering drugs and internal trance inspiration or direct second sight, internal vision and passive-mind states as well as trance channeling.
Prophecy is not prediction..
People sometimes think that "prophecy" means to predict (foretell) what will happen in the future. Actually, the simple gift of prophecy is essentially forthtelling; it is a ministry to make people better and more useful Christians now. Prophecy in the New Testament church carries no prediction with it whatsoever, for "he that prophesieth speaketh unto men to edification, and exhortation, and comfort" (I Corinthians 14:3). Notice that there is no mention of the word prediction here.
The ability to contact the spirits is often passed from one generation to the next within reception families, which may amount in part for its name, "familiar." The word familiar comes from the root word "family". Even though someone may have accepted Christ as their Savior it is still necessary to renounce in an audible voice any past experiences he or members of his family may have had with any of these practices.
It is possible for a Christian to be harassed by demonic forces that believe they still have access rights to him because of their past affiliations with either he or his family. Most of us are unaware of the relationships our grandparents or great-grandparents may have had with Satan. We don't know whether they delved into the occult and other forbidden practices either purposely or through ignorance.
Understand now, that does not make us demons possessed if we are now living according to God's Word. It simply means that we must close those doors permanently in our lives which we would certainly have done earlier had we known it was necessary. I want to make this CLEAR! We inform Satan and his harassing demons that, based on the Word of God, we are breaking all pacts we or our relatives may have made in the past with him because we are now under new ownership.
We are new creatures in Christ Jesus! In our personal ministry we have found that these threads from the old life have to be severed before people can find full liberty in the Spirit. We automatically lead people in a prayer of renunciation from occultic, psychic practices in our crusades, especially when they want to receive the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. It certainly doesn't harm them to do so and we have seen the freedom it brings to those who want the fullness of the Spirit in their lives.
God's Words is very explicit where a familiar spirit is involved. "A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them" Leviticus 20:27 God is so vehement in His denunciation of these practices because people who seek unholy spirits for guidance are actually breaking the first commandment. This type of spirit communication brings judgement on the participant according to Exodus 20:5, "...for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and forth generation of them that hate me;"
If there were ever an illustration of how far astray the pseudo guidance of mediums and necromancers can lead an individual, it is SAUL. Read I Chronicles 10:13, 14.
MIND READERS
Possibly you have seen people on television who appeared to read the minds of complete strangers. The truth is that unless they were con artists, with an accomplice feeding them information via special code words, they were probably tuned into a familiar spirit.
GOD'S GUIDANCE
God's method of directing the lives of His children is found in His divinely inspired Word. The psalmist tells us God's Word "...is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path" Psalm 119:105. When we read and meditate upon the Bible, the Holy Spirit teaches us the truth we need to live a successful, righteous life. Jesus instructed the disciples to depend on the Holy Spirit for their future guidance. "But the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrances, whatsoever I have said unto you" John 14:26.

True ministry is ministering to those inside and outside of God’s Church as well. But one must not compromise His principles in order to do so. Having The Holy Spirit is a privilege that comes with much responsibility. “… For you were once darkness, but now you are LIGHT in the LORD! Walk as children of LIGHT (for the Fruit of the SPIRIT is in ALL goodness, righteousness and TRUTH), finding out what is acceptable to the Lord. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness. But rather EXPOSE them…” Ephesians 5

If the doctor prescribes a pain killer for years and the pain killer is addictable then yes the Doctor is practicing Witchcraft. He is hurting the person more then
he is helping the person. The doctor has become a poisoner!
Drug Dealers are basically practicing Witchcraft.
Doctors who perform an abortion are practicing pharmakeia!
God warned us about these things because until recently we wasn't capable of understanding the facts concerning them.

Ummm, yeah....that sounds about right !!!
This sure would make the cost of doing business a "thing to count"
But then again a lot of things worthy of death are not enforced and that is why we have unreal crime and over loaded jails with revolving doors so they can do more evil...it is because we do NOT annihilate the incorrigible ones in our country.
Seems like everything is “tolerated” in the name of politically correct “tolerance”!!! And everything has to be “all inclusive”...including the gospel having to be “seeker friendly”
We wonder why "judgement begins in the house of GOD" ?

We as a society have tolerated way too much like Mr. Q just stated. People seem to be in a trance-like state of being content and satisfied with being on these drugs long term, and when you bring information that can set them free - they respond to you like you are crazy!
Unbelief of God's Word along with a lack of studying it have greatly contributed to this ungodly enslavement. But this hub has helped me and others greatly, in that we can be more specific in our prayer requests, and in our rebuke/exorcism of these demons.

Philosophy. We are what we think we are. They are not prophesy dreams. In our sleep we know ourselves very well. This leads to some symbolism of only some areas in our lives we are currently focusing on. We all can predict what happens next with certain factors. We can see things if we are not psychologically well, such as isolation, where a lot of people are lonely. Tell me, what kind of Familiar spirits live off crack and Cocaine??? are they the gang-bangers parading around Compton or downtown LA, are those your "Familiar Spirits" as far as I can tell, they only REAL thing you get when using such drugs are degenerate trash from the bigger cities, wasting away in the city gutters and streets.

Although addictive drugs belong under spirit of bondage, yet Satan can use the passive mind state brought about by the hallucinogenic drugs such as L,S.D. cocaine, crack, alcohol and prescription drugs like valium and librium to ACTIVATE everything from DEPRESSION to POSSESION in those who experiment with or depend on such substances. We cannot allow our mind to be fuzzed up! Satan will take advantage of our weakened condition while we are in that state to try a forcible takeover if we are not on guard!
Remember, anyone who strays either consciously or unconsciously into satan's area of operations by participating in the activities mentioned in THIS HUB, can expect to be harrassed in one way or another by the power of evil. More often than not, all attention for both good and evil are placed on God, rather than much attention being placed on the reality of the evil spirit realm that dominates this world. We need to pay attention and moreso, as the influence of this spirit realm is said to grow more deceptive in the last days.
