FAITH, DO YOU HAVE IT?

WELCOME TO PASTOR DR. CARLOTTA'S COUNSELING CENTER.

Hebrews 11:6 NKJV- "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him." Faith that pleases God is faith that believes. He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. In order to stand in confident faith: we must believe that God is a liberal giver (See James 1:5) and not a withholder (see Psalm 84:11). Faith is not a struggle with God to try to get Him to move on out behalf. He has already provided everything for our life and godliness. In fact, faith is not even a struggle to try to overcome difficulties by our own power or ability.

Faith is a position of rest. Faith is a confident assurance of what God has already done for us; a sure conviction that it will come to pass in out own experience. When we believe, we enter rest because we see things from God's perspective the way they really are. Once we see things from that position of reality, rather than emotion, we can be at rest. We no longer have to struggle and strain over everything.

The basic fundamental truth is that God is LOVE! He does not just have love, He is LOVE! He is not a watchful taskmaster waiting for his servants to toe the line. God is a loving father who longs to reward His children, and bestow upon us good and perfect gifts. James 1:17. According to I Corinthians 3:21-23, God loved us so much that He sent His Son to redeem us from sin and give us all things. It takes a revelation of the love of God to understand this. It also takes a revelation of the grace of God.

The more we understand God's grace, the more our hearts will respond in faith. Eph. 2:8 "God saved you by His special favor when you believed. And you can't take credit for this; it is a gift from God." It was God's grace that caused you to be born again. The grace of God caused Jesus to be sacrificed for you sin. Faith is simply your response to that gracious act. Faith is not a work to be done that will impress God and help earn you a place in His favor. Faith is your assurance of what God, by His grace, has freely given you.

The rest of faith is a confidence in God's love and faithfulness. God is faithful. Sarah believed in that faithfulness, and her faith resulted in God strengthening her so she could bear a child in her old age. See Hebrews 11:11. Resting in faith is resting in the unfailing goodness and mercy of God. Resting in faith is being completely at ease. It is trusting God to love you far more than you deserve, and give you far more than you have earned.

Faith is a supernatural phenomenon. The ability to hold yourself calm in the midst of disaster or adversity is a supernatural strength of the Spirit. It does not come from maturity or from practice. Faith is not emotional or mental. Faith is of the Spirit. It is s force that comes out of the Spirit and overrides mental reservations or fear that we may heave. If you will allow it to do so. Read Mark 4:35-39. Jesus was utterly calm in the midst of a storm that terrified experienced sailors. That calm rose up out of His Spirit. The Spirit is where the rest of faith comes from.

Faith does not come from our ability to reason intellectually. We must be careful not to confuse faith acts on the truth of the Word with calm assurance. Mental assent does not produce the assurance about reality of the Word of God. Mental assent will flip-flop and suddenly agree with circumstances when a discrepancy the two arise. The rest of faith does not arise out of your mind; the rest that faith brings is supernatural. It is a rest that is not shaken by adversity. It remains assured of the Word of God and confident of God's faithfulness.

Faith is also not an emotional response. Many Christians confuse emotional zeal with faith. Faith is a rest and relaxation, an assurance of heart, not an excitement of the emotions. Sometimes, the assurance of the heart will bring about an emotion response. But if an emotional response is all a person has, that emotion, with no real assurance to back it up, will wither away in the face of the first contrary circumstance. Peter said he would never deny Jesus. But he was emotionally excited. He had no real faith to back up the zeal, so when the adversity came, the zeal withered. Read Luke 22:33-34, 60-61. Later, after he came into possession of a real assurance of faith to back up the zeal, Peter told the Pharisees. "We must obey God rather than men." Acts 5:27-29.

If you haven't accepted Christ as your Savior simply say in an audible voice, in all sincerity from the depths of your heart, "Lord Jesus Christ, forgive me of my sins and accept me as Your child. I accept You as my personal Savior and I promise to follow the instructions of Your Word from this day on. If I fail because I am human, please help pick me up so I can try again! Thank you, Jesus, for saving me from all my sins. AMEN."

Well said drpastorcarlotta.I especially like the way you clarify the differences of faith - one is a supernatural confident assurance while the other is a human emotional response.

There are two kinds of faith. One is circumstantial, and the other is biblical. What is the difference? Circumstantial faith is anchored in the emotion of the person. When prayers are not answered according to our will and disappointment sets in, this kind of faith fizzles as the person walks away from Christ.

Biblical faith, on the other hand, is anchored in the person of Christ. Regardless whether our prayers are answered according to God's will or disappointment sets in, this kind of faith fights the good fight and stays the course in Christ.

Enjoyed reading your hub. Faith truly is a position of rest. God bless your ministry.

drpastorcarlotta,

AMen! AMEn! & AMEN! You are so right!

Faith is knowing that what matters most is what GOD knows rather than what others think! Knowing that the LORD knows your every intent, thought and deed brings an unexplainable security. Nothing happens in life that gets by HIM!

"The ability to hold yourself calm in the midst of disaster or adversity is a supernatural strength of the Spirit" as you stated is because you have the FAITH to TRUST in HIM!

Yes, you can rest in FAITH and patiently wait knowing in HIS time He will work it ALL out for GOOD!

Bless you, Thank You and PRAISE GOD!

Blessings

HIdr, I camee by to see what my friends were up to. I love your Faith hub. Faith is a beautiful thing. 'The substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.'

Faith takes action hearing, reading, saying the word. Thank God he will meet us where we are at. Faith for me takes practice each day. It gets easier and flows smoother, like playing the piano but there is always room to grow. I will not play as well if I do not practice. The beauty is we have this day and no more then today to live, serve, love. Blessings my friend

Faith was a struggle to Job, but one is still accountable for their own actions so one does not fall by their own behaviour. Good actions are learnt from wise people with knowledge, a teacher of Gods works. Rest is dependent on our leadership and the beliefs also of our family, as well as our knowledge and righteousness. We are on a mountain and decide how to walk (god making the day for man), then we see the boats and fish (our decisions, thoughts, to action), then judged, (God made night where one passed the omen, witness) and if not right, put to death, then in a coffin, the grim reeper had come. Later an angel blows a trumpet and we arise. It is a hard trip and we climb the mountain, get to the top, and decide again, how we wish to behave. The spirit is the fanciful language. One is forgiven upon explanation of the crime and a real apology to God, self, and the victim, so we know it wont happen again. That has always been the Old Testament without Jesus anyway. Some sins in religion are so confusing and incoherent, one would need an IQ of 130 to completely understand, but we all rather get the general idea of the general sins. Religion was a way of law and social interaction to survive as a tribe. It was a living style. The system is not religious. When one is put to death, figure of speech, not actually done, by a crime, to later arise by way of the angel waking the dead from the coffin, there will always be some type of system which is part of societies workings. And angry people in the system if you have done wrong. If you have done right and are in the system, beware, it is an evil working. That's why it is better to learn correct behaviour while young to avoid it. A Dr, lawyer, police officer, anyone in the system who is religious, is a cross breed. They are not wholley religious. But they are what is necessary, are what God predicts, and probably a part of God, in some way, a part where if cast out, in anger, you are sent to a bad place. But being a crossbreed the other half of them watches over us and is very knowledged and correct in certain ways to obey and respect, whilst making usually good decisions themselves. But religion opposes their views and occupation in many ways. Intelligence is the differentation with acquired knowledge of this to adapt to other systems apart from religion, but if a minister is a past Dr or lawyer, he/she is a cross breed of different learnings, and will get religion quite wrong. If your parents do not behave religiously, you obey God and not your parents. You don't necessarily respect your parents. System authorities will state differently. They are very simplistic like in education where you are given theory to learn, then when you get higher up, all the theory is unlearnt and actually incorrect, but you had to learn it to get there, but as advancing, it's not, then they are the opposing of simplistic for e.g. you don't lie, but in the family court it is allowed as academic, visit the library on this matter. But the ethics of the system are against the ethics of religion. So if one has been a system professional, and administering, with their beliefs and philosophy of learnt knowledge, you will be lead astray. They don't know what they are talking about. And they make their own rules on how they should behave, than how a religious leader should behave. One should put everything down for a person in need. And not that they are busy at the church to see a person right now. Or at home. Unless the are really, really tied up. And one great question is, where is the money going to while you donate. If one walks off the street in need. It's not listening to their assets, it's more so if someone came in today needing food right now.

This hub is a blessing to all that read it,from mt youth, I have been taught that faith is believing in something good or for something good, even without having proof or understanding how it will come to pass, simply believing and expressing good works toward that good reward!
