A Hi-Tech, BUT Bargain DVD player

Dvd-players Are Ever Improving And Changing
Our love affair with DVD players can more or less be explained by saying that cutting ties with the former fling (VHS) was costly, but worth the pain. In our article's situation, DVD players can really dredge our coffers deeply, but the results are definitely worth, based on players' sales and popularity.
Bonus sections in the DVD disk only whet the curiosity of buyers to go after these hi-tech players. Why wouldn't they, given the movie distributors' offer that the disk contains never before seen footages and special behind the scene features?
Already here for many years and yet still so fairly new, DVD players are experiencing advances in their capabilities. High-Definition DVDs and players are being released, and like a proverbial battle of undersea monsters, Blue-Ray players and disks are rising to the challenge. Observers all over the world are cautioning others to wait and see before placing bets, or rather before buying any of the two players.
Movie viewing has really carved a place of its own in the home. We are able to rent DVDs through the mail and they come without hassle, and if we need blank disks for burning, DVDs are sold at local grocery stores. We have reached a point where everyone is able to afford a DVD-player. And so everyone has some sort of home entertainment system going.

What Consumer Search Chose...
After reviewing some 50 DVD players, Consumer Search narrowed it down to 3, namely: OPPO DV-970HD, OPPO DV-981HD, Philips DVP5960/37. Here's a summary of how th first two did:
OPPO DV-970HD
CS's “Best DVD player overall.” Even if you don't own an HDTV to make use of the HDMI connection, the OPPO DVD player lives up to its bargain reputation. Got pictures, MP3 or video in a USB device? Plug it in and let it open itself. Rest assured the 4-in-1 card reader will do the same too. Throw in too the capability to play discs from the U.S., Europe and Asia. If you don't own an HDTV or don't need the extras, go for a less expensive, standard DVD player.
OPPO DV-981HD
CS's “High-end DVD player for HDTVs." Reviewers defend the Oppo model that the OPPO DV-981HD's performance with standard-definition DVDs is unbeatable. For owners of the latest 1080p HDTVs, the OPPO can upscale standard DVD resolution up to full 1080p.
