WANT TO QUIT SMOKING?

I like so many started smoking when I was in my late teens. Over the years I have thought about quitting smoking, but that was it, just a thought. When I would get serious about it, something would come up and I would tell myself, later. It was always later. I had all the excuses in my head, I will gain weight, (and could not really afford to do that I already weigh too much). My best excuse was that I was going through too much stress to quit.

Six months ago my doctor told me that I had a small amount of emphysema, in the bottom part of my lung and I needed to quit. But my favorite excuses came into play along with I can cut down and it will be ok. It, however, was not ok. Every morning I would wake up coughing so bad I could hardly breathe. I would cough and cough until I had coughed up all the smoking from the day before, and then of course go light a cigarette. I could not see myself as a non smoker, I had smoked for so many years (36 years) I could not imagine trying to drive a car, or play cards or talk on the phone without a cigarette. And most of all, how do you eat or have sex without smoking after?

It had become obvious that I needed to quit so off I went to find out how to do that without killing myself or someone else. Now here is an update. I no longer smoke! I no longer cough!, I no longer spend $500.00 a month on cigarettes, (between the two of us)!, I sleep more soundly, and I don’t stink like cigarettes anymore. But an added benefit that I LOVE is that I can smoke anywhere I go inside and out. Lol you should have seen the looks on peoples faces when I was smoking in the store the other day, it was priceless.
