Earth's water resources
More than 70 percent of the earth's surface consists of water. 97
percent of Earth's water is salt water. Fresh water is 3 percent, of
which 2 percent is tied up in isform, or under the Earth's surface.
Available fresh water is thus 1 percent of Earth's water resources.
Much of this water is and will remain polluted by industrial, maritime,
agriculture and livestock production through fertilizers, antibiotics
and hormones, chemicals from tanneries, fertilizers and pesticides used
for crops.
Over one billion people lack access to clean drinking water and
more than 5000 children die every day due to lack of clean water to
drink.
Livestock and livestock consume quantities of fresh water. For
example, the U.S., nearly 60 percent of the country's fresh water
resources for livestock.
While both the knowledge about water shortages as a technician in
order to alleviate water shortages develop, there is very great concern
the current future. One of the absolute biggest problem is the large
population growth that does not look like abating. Other problems are
that the oil used as energy source for many types of irrigation are
likely to be significantly more expensive in the future, and that the
greenhouse effect will lead to the arid regions has become even drier.
Husbandry is growing faster than any other agricultural sector.
Maintaining, or better, level of meat consumption will contribute to an
increased water shortages for people in poor countries.
Did you know? To produce one kg vegetables required 400-3 000 liters of water. A kg of beef requires 15 000 liters or more.
Horrible?
