It has been announced that the Copenhagen talks will not be able to produce a treaty for all countries to sign. This will have to come later. It has been stated that the Copenhagen conference would be used to come up with an “interim ‘politically’ binding agreement and to set a date and time for a legally binding one sometime next year”. We do not, at this juncture on this planet, have the luxury of this kind of time . We need an immediate mechanism for the citizenry to be able to move forward toward green, carbon zero living while the leaders of the countries are fiddling... fiddling while Rome burns . When do we recognize that the dangers of imperfect sustainable steps are far less than the dangers of taking no steps at all?
