If you're looking for some fun and easy kid room decorating projects consider purchasing a matching or contrasting set of bed sheets and making a duvet (or comforter) cover, a bed sheet curtain or curtains out of a pillowcase.
Following are some simple how-to projects made from bedsheets.
Duvet cover
One of the most cost effective ways to decorate your child's bed and make it extra comfy is to purchase extra sheets and make a duvet cover to envelope her existing comforter or duvet .
Directions:
*Purchase two flat sheets (the same or in a coordinating color or print).
*Seam the sheets on three sides.
*Add snaps on the fourth side.
*Slip the comforter inside and voila, your child’s bed has a fresh new look.
Bed Sheet Curtains
Making a curtain out of an extra bed sheet is just as easy as making a duvet cover.
Directions:
*Purchase one flat sheet and one curtain rod.
*Hem one end to length.
*Make a pocket hem at the top.
*Insert the curtain rod through the pocket hem.
*Install above window.
*Tie back the curtain on one side.
Pillowcase curtains
For a neat curtain idea consider turning decorative pillow cases into nifty swing curtains.
Directions:
*Start with two matching pillowcases and two swing-arm curtain rods.
*Measure window carefully.
*If you’re using printed pillowcases insert a layer of drapery lining to help block the pattern from showing through.
*Sew a pocket hem at the closed end.
*Leave an inch of fabric above the hem for a ruffle.
*Sew or hot glue a decorative trim the hemline near the open end.
*Feed the rods through the curtains.
*Install rods.
