Easy Way Stop Smoking

Despite being aware of the ill-effects of smoking on one’s health such as blood pressure, cancer and heart ailments a lot of people who have decided to give up smoking fail to do so. This is because smoking is not just a physical addiction but the habit also binds him mentally. For a lot of smokers, the need to light up a cigarette still persists even when they have weaned themselves off smoking. This is why when you decide to quit smoking you must look at addressing even the mental aspect of smoking.

There are always going to be reasons to not give up smoking. But you must find the courage to face the issue, take it by its horns, and decide to quit the habit not just for your health but also that of your family. The sooner you give up, easier becomes the process of de-addiction. You must identify your smoking patterns and understand what makes you want to smoke—Is it stress? Is it the loss of a loved one? Is it peer pressure? Is it because life has not been very kind to you? The reasons do not matter; you have to quit smoking and regain your life even though there is no easy way stop smoking technique.

You will have to take the initiative and take some essential steps to quit smoking. Throw away any cigarettes you have in your house. Do not hang out with people who are smokers. At your workplace, social circle, or parties, you must let people know that you are trying to kick the butt and you could do with their support. They should encourage you when you tell them of your ‘trying to turn into a non smoker’ achievements, however small they are. Avoid your regular hangouts if the atmosphere at those places compels you to puff.

Look for activities that would take your mind off smoking. You never know when the urge to smoke would hit you. Hence, these hobbies or spare time tasks should be such that they can be pursued at any time of the day. A bath, a walk, doing the dishes, or listening to your favorite band is some of your options. Whether it’s a tried and tested way to keep you occupied or something unconventional, it’s vital that you do not fall prey to the cigarette. Think of a variety of things to do so that you will not be bored and find yourself going back to smoking.

You can either go solo or become a member of support group as part of your de-addiction program. You can meet up with other people in your neighborhood who are also trying to quit smoking. A fellow smoker can understand exactly what you are going through and this makes it easier to discuss all your smoking related issues. You must not hesitate to admit that a particular technique is not working and be willing to try out another method. When you do something as commendable as saying ‘No’ to a cigarette offered, you must reward yourself. Stay motivated and true to your cause. There is no easy way stop smoking method that would bear results as soon as you start. But with your determined efforts, the results will soon be coming your way.
