edu Backlink Builds Authority To Your Site
55Benefits of .edu Backlinks
The holy grail of the internet is often .edu and .gov one way back links to your site. The reason why is because a search engine will place a large proportion of authority on such a link as it is deemed to be a trusted link.
Boost your link authority by having an edu or gov back link to your site. Just one simple edu link will be equal to hundreds of PR0 to PR3 back links that you may already have. If you do not have a .edu back link, then I believe you must have one at least.
Often in the search engines you will find a keyword with the referring url as a .edu link, generally holding position one on page one.
You can use this to your advantage. I first want to state that if you have a website that promotes your product, a personal blog or quality content, then this is for you and I recommend further reading.
On the other hand, if you promote porn, pharmaceuticals, payday loans, casinos or other spammy terms, then definitely, and I mean definitely, this is not for you.
I have researched .edu links thoroughly and I closely guard my techniques. What I have found is that if you promote honestly then your link will often be accepted on an .edu site.
Most .edu sites have an administrator approve the comment. If you convince the administrator that your comment is honest and not meant to deceive then your link will be approved. If its spammy, you will be blacklisted.
Edu Backlinks Rule Search Engines
Adding Content To A .edu Site
Many edu sites are often showcasing the institution and the benefits of pursuing an education at the establishment. Often such institutions extend their blogging platforms to allow students to have their own blogs.
This service is provided free to the students as the hosting is met by the institution. The students are then allowed to blog to their hearts content and blog about anything they like.
There are a lot of niche edu blogs as students have seen they can make a few dollars through blogging.
If you have a site about cooking then I can assure you there is a .edu site as well, etc. Students make a very good internet income from advertising and selling products from their blogs. Word of mouth has then spread through the .edu niches.
When you find a .edu site that you believe can benefit your efforts, then approach the owner of the site and ask if you can submit content to them. Students are very busy studying and love most opportunities to have content added to their site.
What About "nofollow" and "dofollow" .edu
After months of testing I have found two similarities in the no and do follow tags. My results where completely outstanding and I will explain why.
As you know some search engines such as the Big G will stop when it sees the nofollow tag.
But...
Other search engines appear to be blind to this tag such as the second Biggest Y.
Basically Google will not follow a "nofollow" tag and Yahoo (many others as well) will follow the link to your site.
It is known that Google will count a link that is "dofollow". Yahoo will follow a link in content, not in the footer or bio box, but in the content itself.
If you want to rank on Yahoo and Bing and all the other search engines, place your anchor text link in your content within the first three paragraphs.
Now edu sites have do follow on the platforms they use. I would guess-timate that 2 in 100 edu blogs are no follow.
An Offer You Cannot Refuse
If I was to tell you that you could get a link to a .edu site for xx amount of dollars would you take it?
What if I was to tell you that you could write a post with two anchor text links on any subject, no spam as discussed, pay xx amount of dollars and have your post hosted on the edu site?
Remember I spoke of students making money. Students have recognised that their blogs are an assett to the mainstream internet user. They sell link positions and post on their sites.
I can hear you screaming now, "but paid links get a penalty"!!
Maybe so, but not when they are in a guest post or on the blog roll. That is perfectly acceptable. Paid link services often carry a script to identify that is a paid link. Posts and blog rolls are not identified as paid links.
