I See Stoned People

Just another good old American Criminal
Just another good old American Criminal

A letter to the President and My Congressional Delegation

To my Public Servants

I would like to first congratulate you on your vast improvement over the previous ruling party and say that I approve of your efforts to bring progress and humanity back to our nation. Your efforts reflect the desires of a nation to be better then what we have been.

I have been torn as I watch the way the Corporate Interests have hijacked the debate again and as they will always do until we undermine their stranglehold on this great nation's public forum. That great long term goal will have to wait. We must now focus on the short term. With the private hospitals, nursing homes, big pharma, and the insurance industry arrayed against you there is little chance for real effective reform. They are buying adds to promote the health care plan, this is not good for us. The people mistrust the coroporations at the moment, so seeing them advocate for your health care plan makes people mistrustful of your health care plan and you. Further more they also have a hand in hiring these mobs of thugs to go hijack any public forum for discussion of health care. The lobbying companies, who send out these kind of instructions on how to disrupt discourse, do not do so without someone paying the bill. They curse us with their support while creating the illusion of public dissent.

You have it in your ability to so distract the medical industry and the political right that they will forget health care is being legislated. Direct the FDA to suspend the ban on medicinal marijuana until congress can take up the repeal of the failed policy of prohibition and implement a system of regulation, agricultural subsidy, and taxation. This sensible move will castrate big pharma, the private hospitals, and the health insurance industry and galvanize the support of most Americans. You will be viewed once more as decisive and strong by your supporters and your enemies will piss themselves! If the right tries to use the medijuana to scare main street, let them. It will only demonstrate how out of touch they have become. This nation's people have long understood the prohibition was wrong and stupid and taking resources from more worthy avenues.

By doing this you will not only hamstring your health care opponents and reunite the fracturing progressive movement. This move can be a huge economic boon to communities everywhere. It will reduce many prescription costs for those with pain or anxiety maintenance issues. This would create more paycheck to paycheck income in those effected. Many communities also house black market grow operations that could be encouraged to become legal medical operations. If the end of the medicinal prohibition is followed with the end of the recreational prohibition, and the beginning of domestic industrial hemp and active cannabis growth, then the economic benefits are nigh limitless. Every community would now have more prison and jail space to use for dangerous criminals as well as the police and judicial resources to put them there. You want to kill lobbying. Legalize hemp. Good bye fuel lobby, we now have bio diesel that comes from a non food source; paper lobby, wood pulp paper was always the least economic way to produce paper and the chemical and timber industry knew, thus they conspired to give us the damned prohibition in the first place, oh take the timber lobby with you; pharmacutical lobby, what pharmacutical lobby, can't patent a plant, I guess now you'll have to actually cure diseases instead of trying to make money. Furthermore it would remove a barrier between many people and jobs.

This is the boot to the door that will let the greed heads know we have come for blood. Whether you are on the right side of that boot or the wrong side of that door is up to you but the kick is coming whether you throw it or not. I ask you only remember this; you serve us, the people, the every day citizens (including yourself and the two Presidents prior to you) that this law makes into criminals; not the for profit hospitals or prisons, not the insurance companies or the modern day opium lords of big pharma.

You mean would a beer industry marketing tool accidentally promote the very activity they lobby to keep illegal so it doesn't cut into their profits. No I think not.

CC- Wow really. It's probably true you don't have many brain cells if you still believe that Reagan administration sponsored study that showed monkeys that smoked like x amount of pot a day had more dead brain cells then those that didn't. For those of you that missed the follow up on that allow me to debunk: The monkeys had the smoke pumped into their face through a gas mask for 3-4 minutes sessions twice a day. You suffocate any mammal for 3-4 minutes and it will have brain damage, thus putting it on an even playing field with you sir or mam.

CWB: Which is sponsored is a produced under license by Guinness Brewing of Dublin Ireland. I could be the one that needs to flush out my head gear on this one but I am heading out the door so I don't have time to confirm my assertion.

If that's correct, and it well could be, I was not aware of the fact.

I thought about getting my card, to give me the power I once dreamed of as a horny teenager who used to wait until McDonalds was going to close for the night and make a raid on their free cheeseburgers. I would sit in the parking lot hotboxing the car until that drive-thru window was opened up and out came the bag full of cold chicken mcnuggets and dry cheeseburgers. Ask me if I gave a fuck about the lack of heat and the amount of chemical filler that was in my grub? That would be correct. I didn't.

What was I talking about? Oh yeah, that card. Yeah, I can get a card now and carry more hydro than I can presently afford and the oinkers can't do a damn thing about it. Only problem is that my tolerance has declined and I am unable to walk outside my home in that particular condition without acting like a senile old man and thinking someone is after me. And so the legalization doesn't really affect me personally and I would still get my stuff from the same dude who I got it from back in the day when we were still counting the hairs on our balls. That said, I still believe the people who don't want to legalize it and reap the benefits of it, are the ones truly stoned and need to get off the prozac and the oxycontin. I thought America was home of the capitalist pigs...theres a trough full of gold there and these swine want nothing to do with it? WTF indeed.

I don't know that your solutions would actually change all you claim; however, when drug criminals get stiffer sentences than murderers, we need to change mandatory sentencing laws from federal courts. They act as if using drugs was the worse crime out there. Cannabis, like nicotine can ruin your lungs, but in many respects is not as destructive as alcohol. It is about money & power, as everything else seems to be. V

Actually in all studies to date Cannabis smokers do not show an increased risk for most smoking related respiratory illnesses. Simply put Cannabis is not toxic in the same way that Tobacco is. It is not carcinogenic. It does not cause the long term damage that can lead to emphysema. The only place it really out weighs cigarettes is in temporary inflammation. So if you already have asthma or emphysema you should cook your pot into some butter and eat it, otherwise it's only slightly worse for you then sitting next to campfire for several hours

Here in Spain it's not illegal to use marijuana. It is illegal to sell it, so while we're not all the there yet, we have made some first tentative steps to doing away with prohibition.

BTW it grows wild outside the barrio where I live and people go there and grab some leaves from time to time. No cops watch over it and no government agents stand ready to either burn the fields or grab users.
